SPONSORED WALK IN AID OF CHILDREN WITH CEREBAL PALSY
Earlier this year a team of five ; LCpl Hill ( OC Party ) , Pte Scott , Pte Woodcock , Dvr Hurst , Mr Simon Jennings and Boo Boo ( Team Mascot ) , set out on a twenty mile walk to raise money on behalf of the Spastics Society which helps children with cerebal palsy .
The team set off from Bicester North train station just after 7 o'clock under the watchful eye of Lt Col Geddie ( CO ) , Capt Gavin ( Adjt ) and Maj Cole ( OC A Coy ) . The team had just reached the 5 mile marker , after a careful piece of navigation by LCpl Hill , when the heavens decided to open up totally drenching the team . After the first of many teabreaks in the back of the vehicle , the team carried on walking .
As the now very wet team reached the outskirts of Oxford the rain eased and the sun made an appearance , it was only a fleeting visit as the rain soon started again . The team , wet , but not disheartened , were found to be diving into public houses - not for drinks ( ! ) but to collect money off unsuspecting drinkers . They finally arrived at Oxford train station early that afternoon , looking slightly wet , but still in high spirits .
LCpl Hill and the team would like to thank everybody who took part in the walk and all those that helped with arrangements . Also a very big thank you to everybody who gave their support , the total raised was £ 300.50 .
The team are pictured here presenting a cheque to Penny Holmes of the Spastics Society who thanked them for their hard work and determination in raising the
money .
