' WITH KNOWLEDGE , SPEED AND SURENESS '
25 Freight Distribution Squadron RCT ( L of C ) ( The Carmens ) is unique for several reasons . It represents the first army venture into the complex and profit - based commercial world of road haulage operations , using civilian contract hired vehicles and operating to a specific Executive Responsibility Budget .
The hundred year old Squadron is located on the Gun Park of Central Ordnance Depot ( COD ) Bicester . Its charter is to operate the Dedicated Military Line of Communication for freight in the United Kingdom . This involves the operation of the Priority Freight Service ( PFS ) and the running of the Military Container Service ( MCS ) between Britain and the British Army of the Rhine .
To meet these targets , 25 Squadron has a 78 strong team of men and women , a contract hired fleet of 142 vehicles and 590 MOD owned 20¹ ISO containers .
