The Representative Colonel Commandant and the DGOS con-
gratulate John Barnwell on winning the Football League Cup
from Nottingham Forest.
A
THE
Aldershot
Well, perhaps John Barnwell wasn't as well known as the
others in his playing days—though those ardent followers of
First Division Football might well take me to task on that.
My defence would be that, good though he was, he never, so far
as I can remember, represented his country at the higher level.
It is rather as a very successful manager that we tend to hear
of John Barnwell these days—particularly when his team,
Wolverhampton Wanderers, does something spectacular
like taking the League Cup from Brian Clough's Nottingham
Forest!

Apprentices College annual camp.
The Flying Dutchman designed in Holland as the name
suggests, is one of the fastest single hulled dinghies. It gained
international status when selected for the 1960 Olympic Games
—Prudier I.undic of Norway won the first Gold Medal in the
class.

LIFE
THERE are many famous names, in almost all branches of
sport, who have at one time or another been members of the
Corps. In boxing there is Henry Cooper, in cricket Jim Laker,
in football Bobby Charlton—and there is John Barnwell.

SPORTING
John Barnwell was the guest of honour at our recent
Association Annual Dinner at Chilwell and a very successful
event it was—a full report of this last Association Week-end
at Chilwell appears on page 11.
