Transcription of Ordnance to check their records (o ensure they have not sent
us someone else's report.
We participated in the Tickle PT Test early in the month
and I'm delighted to report that everyone completed the course
within the times laid down.
The 4th Division Branch of the RAOC Association organised
a trip round the Hereford Breweries and we managed to get
most of the Unit to take part. The fact that free beer was in
the offing had nothing to do with the large numbers who wanted
to attend—or so I'm told.
We welcome Private Arthur Barlow to the fold. We also
extend welcomes to our three civilian staff—Mrs Maija Pick-
worth, Mrs Sue Handley (some readers will remember her of
Headquarters DAAC 'fame') and Mrs Michelle Williams. We
wish them all a pleasant and—dare 1 say it—happy stay with us.
Central Ordnance Depot Bicester
WE recently received the first formal

visit to the Garrison by Major General

visit and talk with the staff of nearly
ly all
Bicester Units and departments and
presenting Long Service and Good Con-
duct Medals to Sergeants Northcott, Sncll
and Stallard, all of DSM(A) Control
Division.
We arc about to say farewell to
Captain Jimmy Murray who is leaving
for Bielefeld shortly. An old Bicesterite who will be surely
missed—he leaves with our best wishes and a recently issued
flak jacket! Major Jim Tilling's account of the recently held
adventurous training exercise North Star appears on page A.

Materials Handling Trials Unit
THIS is your roving reporter finally getting settled in to MHTU.
Now for the up-to-date news. The new Liner Giraffe Telescopic
Handler is being put through its paces, we're having a few minor
teething problems but hopefully we'll sort them all out before
two of my bosses go to Germany. We're having no problems
with our BFTs, it must be all the badminton which is played
at lunchtime that helps; keep up the good work Mr D.
The baby population is quite active within the Unit.
First of all Corporal Colin Watson arrived towards the end of
last year with a new baby daughter, then last month Corporal
Carl Sanders arrived hot from Headquarters BAOR complete
with tax free car—since then young Master Sanders has arrived
in the world. Congratulations. Not to be outdone Carol Walton,
has just produced her second daughter.
The only farewell we've had was our Training/Admini-
strative Officer, Major Frank Bissington, who is now looking
after our interests at Records.
Congratulations to Staff Sergeant Chris Bailey and to
Sergeant John Skerritt on their recent EPC(A) results, and to
Ivor Oakley on receiving the Imperial Service Medal—that is
why we had an Annual Inspection!

Central Ordnance Depot Donnington
THE Spring is here, the sap is rising and Donnington is a very
green and pleasant place to be. I have not actually heard a
cuckoo yet but keep an car cocked in the direction of DSM(A)
where this bird is known to gather in great numbers.
Terry Wogan has his Nolans and the WRAC has its
equivalent: out goes Lieutenant Brigid ' Mark I ' Quinlan to
show the Gunners a thing or two in BAOR and in comes
Second Lieutenant Bridget ' Mark I I ' O'Hara. Have all WRAC
subalterns got the same name? At least it makes for easy
administration.
A special welcome to Major Frank Ham on transfer from
the Royal Irish Rangers and posting to Donnington.
His
stature necessitates a mounting block for his bike and we
would be happier if he kept the stabilizers on until his feet
reach the pedals. He forgot to pack his button stick and finds
it difficult to get out of the infantry ' in-night' habit where mess
members gather for boot-bulling orgies!! The Ordnance mind
boggles at such inane idiosyncrasies.
Donnington are finishing the small-bore Winter shooting
season in a blaze of glory by winning the UKLF team cham-
pionship match 118; the 1CI challenge cup; the NSRA Regular
Army Team Match and retaining the National Marksmanship
Shield 'A' for the fourth successive year. We have won the
RAOC Winter League UK and the Western District Winter
League.
Indivdual and other team results will no doubt
appear in a later issue.
Arrivals: Sergeant Foster, Corporals Kitchen and Stewart,
Privates Taylor and Lawson.
Promotions:
Lance Corporals Bonney and Maggs—to
Corporal.
Marriages: Private Ford to Christine Colling.
Births: Lance Corporal and Mrs Cotterill—a son Richard.
Central Ordnance Depot Chi I well
THIS month we came under the scrutiny
of our new DGOS for the first time. Apart
from the usual protocol of such a visit
Major General Brown spent much time
being briefed on and seeing the mechanics
of the Storage Rationalisation Programme
as it affects the Depot. He became familiar

Chilwell are now interesting enough to compile one of those
drawing room games with board, dice and packs of ' Suspense'
and ' Post Pallet' cards. One can almost hear the cry ' Go
