Transcription On the sporting front our Unit football team first of all
played the civilians of the Depot, and then to carry on with
Anglo-German relations, were narrowly defeated by the local
Stadtsparkasse team.
Our new Administration Officer, Lieutenant Hayward having
been with us for just a couple of weeks is now getting into the
swing of things and the Chief Clerk has now packed his eighth
MFO box.
We welcome to the Unit Lieutenant Hayward, Lance
Corporals Pye and McMurdo and Private Hatfield and say fare-
well to Corporal Allen and our local ' Bleep' Corporal Stimson.
Wulfen Station
THE kids returned home from Hamm,
the Percy Throwers are out in the Depot
digging their patches, cricketers old and
new are recoordinating/refurbishing their
limbs, Active Edge is over, the sun is
shining and the wife is away! What else
could one wish for?
Actually the best news this month is
that all the hard work put in by the
Mess Improvement Committee and Mr
Jack Ferrari of our Planning Branch has
not been in vain. The Sergeants Mess rebuild will go ahead
after all. The workers are now in and we have moved to the
cellar which is rather cosy really. We even have a new coin
machine which the rest of the members can play ' whenever it is
free.' The new Mess should be ready Octoberish!
The month began with a most welcome rest from the
ARU and although the brass monkeys were around at the time
some families did brave the elements and ventured in trailer
tents and caravans to the sunny south. Sunny south indeed!!
Inches of snow forced some back while others lit fires and
drank it's waters to keep warm. (Well, the grape version).
Sergeants Mick Shaw and Frank Grech, on their return to
Costa del Wulfen, headed straight for the NAAFI boutique to
purchase heaters and heavy duty knickers for their next
trip.
The Youth Club has been very busy.
Among many
activities planned for them by the enigmatic Harry Fletcher
and Staff Sergeant Stu Veazey, they visited the Printing Works
in Recklinghausen and toured the workshops at FVD Reck-
linghausen, had lunch at a German Club, visited the All
Nations Library and went ice skating (well almost! Anyone
knowing the whereabouts of the Ice Ring in Essen, Germany,
please send route card to c/o Youth Club Wulfen). Sadly the
club must say goodbye to Staff Sergeant Stu Veazey. ' Lucky
Lips' is leaving Wulfen for Hong Kong. We wish him well
and thank him for all his hard work during his time as club
leader.
On the sport scene a strange new disease has hit Wulfen
Station since the arrival of. the Crawford family in February.
The sport marching craze has gripped many of the Station
members in its icy fingers. Families are well represented on
the marches the more numerous of these being WOl Denis
' Hasher' Falcus, W02 Paddy Grey, Sergeant Bob Cunning-
ham-Norton and Staff Sergeant Barry Milburn. We have even
managed to try out some of the less eligible volunteers like
Lance Corporal ' Why M e ' Gallacher and Private ' Geordie'
Lowden.
The hockey team played in the DOS Cup at Munster and
although favourites to win, were knocked out in the semi finals
by FOD Dulmen on their ground—we blame W02 Percy
de Souza he kept harassing us from the touch line! How's
that for good sportsmanship? Really though they played better
on the day.
154 FORWARD AMMUNITION
DEPOT
THE ARU having come and gone, one would have thought
that they would have had enough marching but at least it keeps
WOl John Crawford's followers out of the clutches of Sergeant
Paddy McGrath, our masochistic long distance runner. The
only absentees would seem to be Sergeant Mick Shaw and the
Military accountant, Sergeant Frank Grech who found the
only mud flats, a camping site in the Mosel, on which to
spend the Easter Break.
Some might say that the change in the weather has been
brought about by the sight of Goldring's Geriatrics once again
making for the nets. Who did steal the cricket mat by the
way?
The soccer team plods on but rugby, seemingly defunct,
made a welcome come back when a Unit side, aided by
' Corporals' Falcus and Goldring won the Rhine Area Seven's
plate competition. Needless to say Major Wes Thomas' Am-
munition Wing won the Inter Departmental tournament—in
spite of bribes offered the referee by the ATO.
We welcome to the Unit, Private ' Geordie' Lowden
(belatedly), Private Whitehead from Kineton and Sergeant and
Mrs McGrath from ACIO Middlcsborough. Congratulations arc
due to Lance Corporal Jock Gallacher on his substantive pro-
motion to that rank and Lance Corporal ' Spark' Thomas on
acting promotion.

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S this m o n t h to Staff
Sergeant John Jackson on his marriage to Sieglindc.
He has gained a wife and suffered a severe de-
crease in his bank balance.
Good and bad news for the Material Branch
this month. First the good news, Congratulations
to Sergeant John Pascoc on passing three subjects
of his EPC(A) at the first attempt. Now the bad
news, Sergeant John Pascoe's car was viciously at-
tacked by an ambulance, damage to the car
DM 1300. Staff Sergeant Barric Fisk's car was locally modified
by a Renault resulting in damage to the value of DM2100, both
cars on SI list and arc currently awaiting admission to the
'body shop.' WOl Tony Mottram can now be seen thumbing
lifts as he refuses to take his four week old car out of its
garage. Remember this year's insurance claims always reflect
in next year's premiums!
Welcome Captain Gillott and his wife Helen, we wish them
both well during their tour in Bielefeld.

STAFF CLERKS.
G Intelligence and Survey is our featured
branch this month.
Up here in the attic where members of the ground floor
staff think we wear oxygen masks, we are all working as hard
as usual. We being: Staff Sergeant Pete Preston, Corporal
Gary Middleton, Lance Corporal Mark Gore and last but not
least Private Paddy Burnett.
Corporal Middleton has just returned from leave in sunny
West Yorkshire and no doubt will be looking forward to
settling back into his desk in G Survey. Lance Corporal Gore
will be disappearing for a week quite soon for the annual
Summer Camp aptly named Exercise Paperbreak.
Over the other side of the office is G Intelligence where
Private Burnett is settling in to the Branch very well since
his move from Ordnance Branch late last year. (A turn for
the best). On darker days he keeps the office cheerful with his
witty comments, like when the Chief Clerk asked him if he
had this years diary his reply was " Yes Staff but it only goes up
to December."
~
We bid welcome to three new officers- in the Branch:
Major Stone Derr, Major Rutherford R. Signals and Captain
Clarke 16/5L.
We also welcome Staff Sergeant Ron Carr, Private Mick
O'Hara and our two new WRAC girls Privates Yvonne Martin
and Eileen Supple.
Congratulations go to Sergeant Jim Kelly, Corporals Rick
Kendal and Chaz Potts on receiving their substantive rank and
to Lance Corporal Bob Pullan on his recent promotion.
Corporal Rick Kendal has moved from R and D to try
his hand in G Air and Private Jack Lemon has moved to
G Operations and we wish them luck, in their new jobs.

HEADQUARTERS
RAOC
THIS month sees many changes at the
Headquarters with postings in and out and
several changes of job for branch personnel.
We said goodbye to Staff Sergeant Alan
Cowlishaw and his family on their posting
to Berlin and hoped that we had seen the
last of his particular brand of fitness
fanaticism but, alas, it was not to be, his
replacement Sergeant Dick Goodfield has
previously represented his Unit at various
athletic events, and hopes to continue to do so during his stay
with us.
That resident optimist, Lance Corporal Jock Falconer has
been transferred to the Adjutants Office in preparation to take
over as Operations Corporal from Corporal George Henry. He
assumes that taking over a Corporals vacancy means automatic
