What next ?
How to grow
your own money
There are two reasons why it is a good idea
to have some money regularly put away in the
National Savings Bank. One is the old prudent
principle of "Don't spend it all at once." The
other is that, in the NSB, your money grows.
In the Ordinary Account you get 5Z a year,
and the first £10 of interest is free of UK
Income Tax every year. An account in your
wife's name entitles her to £70 tax free interest
In the Investment Account, for longer-term
savings, the rate today is 157, a year, and the
interest, though taxable if you pay tax, is paid to
you in full. This is a big advantage for anyone -
say a child - who doesn't have to pay tax.
You can make cash deposits into either
account at BFPOs, on board HM Ships or at
UK post offices; and withdrawals are no
problem. If you are in the UK you can withdraw
up to £50 on demand from an Ordinary
Account at any post office; to withdraw from an
Investment Account, just give a month's notice.
To withdraw money overseas - or for any
other information - ask your pay office.

Obviously, your first requirement is a source
of income. Well, we will show you how to
earn a minimum of £7200 per annum as a
Trainee Branch Manager.
We are looking for people aged between
29-40 to expand the insurance and finan-
cial services of CMS. People with enthu-
siasm, integrity, self-motivation and re-
sourcefulness. As a serviceman, you already
have these attributes, so why not put them
to work for you in creating a rewarding
second career.
No previous experience in life assurance
is necessary as full and continuous training
is provided by the Company.
If you are due to leave the Army in the
next six months and would like to learn
more about our Trainee Branch Manager
positions, for which there are vacancies in
most parts of England and Wales, please
write and tell me a little about yourself and
what your hopes are for the future.
