After six weeks of fine weather it rained all day—but this
didn't dampen the spirits of a record turnout of members.
AIDU WIN BOTH
HILL, A N D B A R I
CUPS
FOLLOWING two comparatively easy games to gain a place
in this years Hill Cup final the Ammo IDU met the Training
Centre in a dogged game at Kineton. Although this was sup-
posed to be a neutral venue the greater proportion of support
on the day was for the 'Ammo ' underdogs who must have
thought they were playing at home.
However, after a very tight game, they emerged the winners
by four points to nil—a try, appropriately enough, by the
Skipper Captain White.
When the final whistle was blown both teams were ap-
plauded off the field by the spectators who seemed to have en-
joyed the tension.
Following the game the trophy (which has now been con-
tested by Corps Units for thirty six years) was presented to
Captain White by Brigadier Short.
1 Ammo IDU also has a proud hockey record in the Bari
Cup Competition. For the four years since first entering the
fray they have managed to emerge winners on two occasions and

INTER-CORPS
CHAMPIONS
THE BAOR Inter-Corps Badminton Championship was held
at Ripon Barracks, Bielefeld; the RAOC team was captained
by WOl Frank Linnane.
During the morning the Corps beat the veteran RE team
to gain a place in the final against R Signals. It was an
exciting finish but the seal was set for RAOC victory when our
second pair (Frank Linnane and W02 George Fergusson) de-
feated the Signals first pair. Our first pair (Staff Sergeant
Graham Orszewski and Corporal Guy Nonis) systematically
destroyed all opposition to give the Corps its second Inter-
Corps Championship in two years.
Colonel Carter, the Chairman of the BAOR Badminton
Association, presented the prizes.
The Corps team was as follows: WOl Linnane (Captain),
W02 Fergusson, Staff Sergeant Orszewski, Sergeant Berry,
Corporal Nonis, Privates Brown and Saxby.
BAOR
FOOTBALL
RAOC v RCT UK
RAOC took on the visiting RCT UK side at Bielefeld and in hot
sunny dry weather the game ended in a four all draw.
After a scrappy opening RAOC settled down and began
to produce some good football. Their superiority eventually
told and Lance Corporal Sooty Sutcliffe scored a fine goal
after outrunning the RCT defence. All this good work was
to no avail when some very sloppy casual defensive work
allowed the RCT to equalise. This set back was soon for-
gotten as the Corps got back into top gear and totally out-
played RCT for the remainder of the first half; Sutcliffe
scoring twice more to record a hat-trick. Half time RAOC
three—RCT UK one.
The RCT fought much harder in the second half and
scored a second goal from the penalty spot. Captain Wally
Auton, who had been prompting his forwards well from mid-
field, combined with Private Dave Taylor for Taylor to score
and put the Corps two goals up. RCT however would not give
up and scored twice to make it level at four all. RAOC
had chances in a scrappy final fifteen minutes but failed
to score.
Although the final result four all, indicated an even
game, the Corps were kicking themselves for twice giving away a
two goal lead.
Team: Goalkeeper—Sergeant Geordie Baynham. Defence

Corporals Robo Robertson and Jock Barr. Midfield—Corporal
Don Bennett, Captain Wally Auton, and Private Dave Taylor.
