Central Ammunition Depot Kineton PRIDE of place this month must go to the celebrations held to mark the opening of Marlborough which is the name given to the new ammunition storage accom- modation built on the site of the former East Sub-Depot. A full report, with pictures,, is scheduled as a separate article in THE GAZETTE but mention is made now in appreciation of the hard work and en- deavour put in by all personnel in Kine- ton Station, both military and civilian, thereby making it a day to remember. The CAD was represented by Major Fox, RSM Chalmers, W 2 Burkin, Staff Sergeant Hooper, Corporal Thomson and Lance Corporal Horst in the Western District Small Arms Meeting and shot very well picking up a couple of runners in the Snapshooting Match and the Falling Plates. The latter match was even more satisfying because it was an all RAOC final—us versus COD Donnington much to the consternation- of the ' Teeth Arms ' Units present. Back to soldiering again, 45 (RS) Company—most of whom are provided from Kineton, have just completed a very success- ful exercise with 10 OSB. Called Exercise Tiger Head it took place in the area of Aldershot and Longmoor and the work- load tested the ability of all who participated to the full. Several new faces were in the Company this time including two ATOs, namely Captain Ken Moules and Captain Dick Gill and a new Second-in-Command, namely Captain Fred Moughton. Lance Corporal Foord, one of the ' old school,' managed to continue his own private war with the RCT. He drives an Eager Beaver from one of the equipment sections and seems to make a habit of running into (literally) sixteen tonnes vehicles with some disastrous results. On the sporting scene the 'A' Company ' Gladiators' have again excelled. In a hard fought final they beat 522 Company RPC to clinch the Inter-Company cricket competition and after a long season they came out on top of the Inter-Company football league. The OC A Company can n o w b e seen measuring various sections of wall for his trophy cabinet in anticipation of even more trophies from the Inter-Company athletics meeting. The Inter-Company Soccer Knockout Cup Competition ended with Combat Company (AS of A) beating 522 Company RPC in the final by two goals to one and this climaxed an active, if sometimes traumatic, soccer season both at Com- pany and Station level. The Golfing Society is now in full' swing with the Club Captam/Chairman/Greenkeeper/General Organiser Major Roger Thomas getting through a tremendous amount of work on be- half of the members. Plans are afoot for several competitions and the new ' clubhouse' is looking really palatial. IN RUNNING STORES SECTIONS THE STICKS SERIES quietly but efficiently little known RAOC Stores Sections supporting the Central and Central Vehicle Depot Workshop. These Stores Sections are looked after by two Ordnance Officers deep in REME land at LE(A). EME 4d is currently manned by Lieutenant Colonel John Hambly- and Captain Marc Moody whose main task seems to be to defend RAOC against attack and takeover. Meanwhile 'somewhere in England' lies the Stores Section attached to 33 Central Workshop; this twenty one strong band of merry men and women (it is in Nottinghamshire) has surfaced after many years with the first of, we hope, a series of articles and photographs about these doughty Units. Since our new OC, Captain Mike Hart, arrived in October 1979 we have seen a few changes. When he asked a member of the staff for the date when the last set of notes were pub- lished in the Corps GAZETTE, the reply was "Sir, think of any date." His next question was: " Has the Stores Section staff ever had a photograph taken together?". The reply this time, " No, but some of us did have a photograph taken with other members of the Workshop (now wait for it) in 1945V The OC then decided to have notes published and an up-to-date photo- graph of all the staff. You can see why he wanted a photo- graph taken—to show off the good looking ladies! Among them are Joan King, Linda Brown, Diane Hubbard, Maureen Hoskins and Pam Willis. The remainder will be mentioned in our next contribution. DON'T READ THIS IN SOMEONE ELSE'S COPY. ORDER THE GAZETTE TODAY AND HELP TO IMPROVE YOUR OWN MAGAZINE A HOME of your OWN?
