Transcription a bang, they beat 3rd Armoured Division Ordnance Company
three to two at Soltau, but they were beaten seven two in the
return leg.
Brigadier Skinner visited the Unit and presented the Long
Service and Good Conduct Medal to W 2 Les Jones and to
Staff Sergeant Dennis Kelly. After lunch in the Officers Mess,
he toured the Unit and spoke to many of the Soldiers.
Departing this month are Staff Sergeant Chapman, Sergeants
Rooke and Woolley, and Corporal Milburn. We wish them all
well in their new Units.
New arrivals are Sergeant Belshaw, Lance Corporal Vale,
Privates Peacock, Davies, Neil and Routledge and Craftsman
Windell.
Recent promotions include Lance Corporal Poole to
Corporal and Private McAulay to Lance Corporal.
STORES PLATOON 7 ARMOURED
WORKSHOP
EXERCISE WORKTRAIN our annual bout of military train-
ing has again reared its head. The Unit now resembles a mini
Regimental Depot with Soldiers doing PT, Weapon Training,
First Aid and re-learning other military skills. The workload
has continued undiminished however, and we are somehow
managing to struggle through. The lucky ones on the ex-claim
to be enjoying it.
Welcome back this month from a six month holiday with
the UNFICYP, Lance Corporal Gerry Madine.
Farewell this month to Mr George Main on retirement
and to Private Colin Jessop for a sojourn with BATUS in
Canada.
Led by our Q, W 2 Ken Blackwell, the Stores Platoon
almost to a man and woman (The girls from the office went
too) volunteered to give blood. " I am A Blood Doner " stickers
now abound.
We seem to have won the raffle at RAOC Records and
congratulations are in order to Corporal Stuart Thomson on
promotion to Sergeant, Lance Corporal Bob Wilmot to Corporal
and Privates Mark Elkington, John Mooney and Gerry Madine
to Lance Corporal.
STORES SECTION 45 FIELD REGIMENT
WORKSHOP
I T S been such a long time since our last bulletin that intro-
ductions are in order. The Stores Section hides the following
characters: WOl Tony Dudley is ' Kemo-Sabe' ably assisted
by Staff Sergeant Brian Frater, Sergeant Barry Moore, Corporals
Tom Laverick and Steve Jessamine, Lance Corporals Dusty
Miller and Jim Shields, Privates Geoff Ranee, Brook Wimbury,
Clive Wilcox and Pete Ridley.
We have recently said a sad farewell to W 2 Chris Kelly
and family who have departed to the bright lights of Col-
chester over there iri BFPO. We welcome his relief Staff
Sergeant Brian Frater and family and hope they enjoy their
stay.
We have also said a sad farewell to our Land Rover which
departed to 7 Armoured Workshop after Private Geoff Ranee
managed to park it on the front seat of a new Mercedes. Until
a replacement is found red stars will now have to be delivered
on the G10 bike.
Herr Schiller is flanked by Lieutenant Colonel Pickard, Captain
Ward, Major Baincs RAOC and fellow members of Fallingbostel
Detachment of the Accommodation Services Unit on the occasion
of the presentation of his Meritorious Service Certificate for
twenty five years service.
2nd Armoured Division
HAVING just finished Exercise Queen's
Crown we are now aware of how to move
a Division Logistic Headquarters in Box
Bodies, (for the ex 2nd Division person-
nel Yes—Again)! The CRAOCs ' Box
Body was well equipped, (and noted so
with envy by others), even to our own
chintz curtains. To add to the mobility
of the Headquarters we decided to take
up the option of the Four Tonner on our
establishment and deck it out for use as a Controlled Stores
Carrying Vehicle, (complete with bunk beds). The Colonel AQ
said it was a good idea and the sleeping incumbents thought so
too.
We welcome W 2 Gregory our new DOWO 2 and hope
that he and his family settle in soon, and not forgetting this
months scribe who can still be heard muttering about 7 Field
Force.
Finally all passed the first BFT of the current year (even
Corporal Thynne and Sergeant Wade), the only over forty a
certain Lieutenant Colonel showing that despite advancing
years, the time given for the under forties can still be achieved.
News From Above. Congratulations go to Lance Corporal
• Gavin on his promotion to Corporal and Private Buchanan on
promotion to Lance Corporal, while Private Bunn does a double
by getting promoted to Lance Corporal and married in the same
week. We wish Private Bunn and Fraulin Angela Pratesi all
the best for the future. We also welcome Lance Corporal Swann
as the new PA to the GOC.
On the sporting scene things have been quiet lately mainly
due to exercises, but we did manage the Minden to Lubbecke
Ridge Run (twenty six kilometre) and congratulations go to
all RAOC who took part, especially Staff Sergeant George
Willerton with a time of one hour fifty minutes closely followed
by Corporal Shaun Gavin and Staff Sergeant Roger Evans. It
is believed that Corporal Passmore finished but in an ambulance.

TO start off this
month, a piece of
exciting news. We now
have
our midst an

Captain Burr, won the

, pionship Epee Class at
Aldershot before which he very convincingly eliminated all
opposition in the 2nd Armoured Division. Congratulations are
in order to him but it must be pointed out he was an Olympic
reservist—need I say any more?
The Administration Officer can now be seen walking the
corridors with a purposeful stride since he was given his third
pip. Poor Julie Somerville the typist was in tears that fateful
day because Captain Martin insisted on all letters being re-
typed showing his proper rank. Talking about promotions,
Eric Blunn was elevated to Sergeants Mess status and on his
first Mess Meeting was sitting very quietly biting his fingei
nails trying to decide what song he would sing when he was
introduced by the RSM. Staff Sergeant Mick Gannon dis-
claims all knowledge of the incident.
On the sporting side the only event worth mentioning is
the ' Round the Aasee Race' in which the Unit came fifth. Our
runners were Mr Mel Matthews, Lieutenant Brant, Sergeant
Eric Blunn, Lance Corporals Phil Handley, Ray Rigden (REME)
and Phil Hussey and Privates Paddy Walsh, Mel Ward, Steve
Duffield and Martin Noonan.
I have been getting a number of complaints from people
claiming they never get a mention in the notes. Well here
goes.
As part of the driver training programme in the Unit Staff
Sergeant John Keefe and Lance Corporal Davey Dick are
doing a sterling job of instructing Unit personnel in HGV and
basic driving. Lance Corporal Bob Phillips a motorcycle fanatic
now admits the new Can-Am is beyond his capabilities.
We say farewell to W 2 Wes Bolden and Sergeant 'Egg
on Legs ' Stevenson, and welcome Privates Boldison, Wilson and
Gregan.
