Transcription Headquarters Scot-land
Army Air Corps
HQ AAC ORD (AIR) 1 {BR) CORPS.
Corporal Bowser is our personality of
the month, having successfully completed
a driving course, and is now seen driving
a Red Capri, at every opportunity. Staff
Sergeant Mathers is all smiles now the
sale is completed. Having completed his
driving course he had a few weeks leave
(to steady our nerves) before getting
married.
Congratulations Adge and Yvonne.
Yvonne served in the WRAC under the
juise of Private Martin before her marriage.
Our S02 Ord (Air) Major de Foubert is now fully immersed
excuse the pun) in the water sport of Wind Surfing and has
tecently participated in the BAOR Championships of this ever
jrowing sport. (What about some photographs—Editor).
Welcome to Sergeants Outhwaite and Ging Hicks to 1
Regiment and 9 Regiment AAC. Good luck to Staff Sergeants
femmott and Ryan on their move to 7 RHA and 4 ADOC.
i AIRCRAFT SUPPORT UNIT. It is with pride and a certain
amount of awe we saw Lance Corporal Crews pass his BFT
this week. At six foot three inch and eighteen stone eight
pounds it was an impressive sight as Tiny came in with time to
Spare. This was another tribute to W02 Green our Senior
Storeman who put on his running boots to accompany Lance
Corporal Crews round the course and whisper words of
encouragement.
Sergeant Crosby and Corporal Willis are spending a great
deal of time recently with the Army Air Corps Cadets. Great
success was achieved by their contingent of the Army Cadet
Force who came away from an Army Cadet Force Athletics
meeting with a total of eighteen trophies.
Corporal Willis will have been just married by the time
these notes are read. Congratulations to him and his wife
Brenda and we hope all goes well in their new life as
' pads.'
The Officer Commanding, Major Greenwood, Corporals
Eustace and Porter went sailing on the Solent in Thunderer
thanks to our S02 Ord (Air) Major Bradshaw. It was a very
pleasant day, everybody enjoyed themselves very much and
were very impressed with Major Bradshaw's man overboard
drill. Eventually Thunderer arrived at Cowes where everyone
wrung themselves out and put on even more clothing to come
back.
Corporals Eustace and Porter had a very unusual
arrangement for meals. Breakfast was left in the Solent and
lunch was left for when they arrived home that night.
Congratulations to our super soldier Lance Corporal
Vaissiere for passing his RPC Course so well. Welcome back
to Corporal Flower from his detachment in Belize. Con-
gratulations also to Corporal McKimm who organised a super
day out for the Unit at Weymouth. Assorted children and
adults filled a fifty seater coach and had a very long and
entertaining day.
Private Woodward kept the tradition of
these trips going and went swimming fully dressed!
AT the beginning of this month the Chief
Ordnance Officer, Brigadier Berresford
made a ' whistle stop' visit to Scotland.
During his time with us he went to
Regional Depot Stirling to view the new
Storehouse Complex. In the evening he
visited 51 Company RAOC (V) in
Glasgow and was impressed with their
training standard.
The School of Ordnance organised
a Health and Safety Seminar at the Red-
ford Study Centre later in the month and
this was well attended by representatives
from a number of Units.
STORES SECTION RA RANGE
HEBRIDES
SUMMER is now with us, the nights are becoming lighter and
the period for beach parties and barbecues has arrived. We
witnessed the above as guests of the MRG and did not realise
it was 4 am until the fire was rekindled for a third time and
breakfast was served to the dawn chorus.
The month did not start happily for the OC, Captain
Slade, who decided to drive to a technical spares meeting with
EMI Electronics at Woking. One hundred and fifty miles from
London his clutch failed and he was forced to sleep for three
hours on the motorway, timing his arrival in London for 3 am
to avoid traffic and changing gear!
W02 Robson has received some good news this month,
and has applied to the Education Officer for the temporary
loan of a PILL course in Chinese pending his posting to Hong
Kong. He's also having the chippy run off a few sets of chop
sticks and getting the legs sawn off his office furniture. Not to
be outshone by ' Q's ' eastern promise Staff Sergeant Hamilton
returned from Exercise Trumpet Dance in ' the sunny ole US of
A ' to the dismal weather of the Hebrides. His day was in-
stantly brightened by a posting order to Brunei.
Staff Sergeant Ray has been awarded the Long Service and
Good Conduct Medal which provides him with some com-
pensation for his colleagues coveted postings to the far East.
Corporal Trent has received the results of his EPC exam
three distinctions and one pass (what went wrong!) and in
2 AIRCRAFT SUPPORT UNIT. Since our last entry much
has happened to us, not least of all our move, finally, into our
new ' Custom Built' accommodation. Needless to say work
was still in progress as we moved in and things are still not
one hundred per cent as we would like them. However, we
must admit it is a vast improvement on our last home.
Congratulations have to be offered to Private Barlow and
his wife Linda on the birth of their daughter Sharon who
weighed in at five pounds two ounces.
Congratulations also to Privates Pope and Spillings on
their promotions to Lance Corporal—I'm sure that I missed
out on a ' Happy H o u r ' somewhere along the line.
We joined in with the 71 Accommodation Workshop sports
day. Though well beaten we were in no way shamed, largely
due to the magnificent efforts of Lance Corporal Norris, who
showed his true worth by winning the meetings Victor Ludorum.
Sergeant Hall has returned from taking his scouts to an
International Camp in Belgium, which he swears he enjoyed.
His appreciation of the outdoor life is justly rewarded by his
being placed in charge of one of our MSD's shortly being
deployed in the field for exercise. Judging by the long face
he is now wearing he seems to be having second thoughts about
the joys of camping.
Our hearty welcome of the month goes to Lance Corporal
Morrall, his wife Elizabeth and son Nicholas, who join us
from Headquarters UKLF.
