NORTHAG
TO continue the roundup of personnel G2
Staff Clerks are: W02 Bob Irwin,
Corporals Mick McNicol, ' K e l ' Kelly
and Steve Williams. Although not RAOC,
we would also like to mention our Dutch
Corporal (Kpl Wil Mains) who in between
making out leave passes is a very active
member of the Division.
Although G2 were unlucky in only
getting ' Runners U p ' at the recent Skill-
at-Arms Meeting, a good time was had
by all participants during the three days
at Geilenkirchen. Congratulations to G4,
the winners.
There has been very little movement
on the manning front since the last issue. Our only new arrival
to the Headquarters has been Lance Corporal Dick Chisholm—
to whom welcome.
Lance Corporal Mick Ford tells us that he has passed his
RPC2 but we haven't seen the report yet.
Corporals Kev Nicholson, Kel Kelly, and Roy Bingham
are wrestling with EPC at the moment. Aren't we doing a lot of
qualification gaining!
The Staff Sergeants Quinn and Quigley are to be con-
gratulated on being selected for Warrant Rank even though
the list was very short. The Posting Orders which resulted
haven't caused too much alarm as they both stay with LOA.
Congratulations to our tame ' Gunner' Bombardier Mick
Lynch on his marriage. We all hope that he and Peta (of 68
Squadron) will be very happy together. Rumour has it that
he intends to transfer to Staff Clerk.
We welcome Major Lee as the new OC A Company, note
that Major Wainwright is muttering about dining out nights,
and that Major Houseman has actually been seen in the office,
this must mean that the stables are closed!
Finally, congratulations to Conductor Barron on his recent
elevation to that appointment.
The Chief of Staff Headquarters BAOR presents W 2
Mike
Mason and Staff Sergeant Andy Bale with their Long Service
and Cood Conduct Medals.
MFO is being packed by WOsl Ron Thornton and Dave
Cochrane, Staff Sergeant Pete Marsh and Sergeant Keith
Marrion. The latter two stay in BAOR, WOl Ron Thornton
hopes his posting to Cyprus will not be changed at the last
moment and Dave Cochrane is looking forward to spending
the last six months of his Army Service in the UK.
Ammunition
Headquarters BAOR
JUNE and July sees the peak of our leave
season this year with the staff getting their
summer breaks into a contracted period to en-
able them to return refreshed to their desks in
time for Exercise Crusader.
The Ordnance Directorate has again given
support to the Rheindahlen Garrison Church
Fete with S Man Branch running the balloon-
stall and Combat Supplies Branch the book-
stall. The Directorate library has mislaid its
QRs and MML and the Chief Clerk Organisation and Plans
Branch intends to be first in the queue at the book-stall, as
he says " Just in case!"
The Colonel Harry Brown family are organising a stall
at the Fete to raise funds for ACROSS, to assist in bringing
handicapped people from UK in their Jumbulances for a
holiday in Germany.
The photograph shows W 2 Mike Mason (now a WOl
and Superintending Clerk Rheindahlen Garrison) and Staff
Sergeant Andy Bale with the Chief of Staff BAOR, Major
General R. K. Guy, CBE, DSO, after the General presented
them with their Long Service and Good Conduct Medals
recently. Mike Mason was his PA before he took up his
job in the Garrison Headquarters. Andy Bale is presently
in hospital in Woolwich and if he should read this in his
hospital bed, we wish him a speedy recovery.
By the time these notes appear Mr Bert Humphries, our
Chief Fire Adviser, will have returned to the UK and his
replacement Mr Tony Chambers will be with us.

Inspectorate
BAOR
THE Inspectorate is currently in the grips of the proverbial
calm before the storm. This last month has passed quietly with
the major events being attendance at SOPAT and the provision
of cover for a UK trials team to Dark Cloud 2.
Our new arrival, Corporal Pete Hurry, joined us from
Kineton and Corporal Chris Coventry closed the loop by being
posted to the depot there. SATO Major John Williams has
now completed his senior management course and joins the
fast growing Unit monopoly of manager/graduates. Dave
Young, our absentee landlord for 4 Division is rumoured to
have had to take out a second mortgage on this months phone
bill.
ATO West, Captain Geoff Cox, has found time to combine
business with pleasure(?) and spent a week in Berlin, jumping
on the Allied Forces Day parade, whilst tidying up a few
minor ammunition matters with Captain Clive Elderton the
Berlin ATO.
The storm looming on the horizon is Exercise Crusader/
Spearpoint. The preparatory machinery has started already
and we're keeping a very close eye on our potential involve-
ment. The Chief Clerk, Sergeant Alan Riches, is at it again
on this one giving odds on us penning any three from six.
Ordnance Depot Antwerp
ON a sunny June morning a bus full of officers and senior
ranks departed for Tumhout to participate in the annual inter-
national sports meeting. Four countries with troops stationed
locally are represented in this military competition, Britain,
Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. This year the four events
were a cross country race, handgrenade throwing, shooting and
mini football. After the initial disappointment of being last
in the cross country, the British team's fortunes changed when
our two man team of Staff Sergeant Trevor Smith and Sergeant
