CHAMPIONSHIPS
THIS years swimming championships were held at the RMA
Sandhurst Pool based on the District/Army championships to
enable Units to train and work to ASU rules.
Some forty five competitors entered for the individual
championships for which first, second and third placed com-
petitors received medals. The Representative Colonel Com-
mandant Major General Minogue presented the prizes and
Brigadier Short. Vice Chairman of the RAOC Sports Committee
and Brigadier Thornton, Commandant, COD Donnington also
attended, witnessing some very competitive swimming.
In the Individual Championships A/RSM Rigby from Chep-
stow set up a new record in the one hundred yards Individual
Medley breaking the old record by nearly six seconds. In the
other events some fine performances were witnessed and in
several cases previous records were close run.
The team championships also proved to be very successful,
Donnington just managing to hold off the Bicester challenge
which was decided by Donnington winning the Medley Relay
in a new record time. During the meeting all three relay
records were broken thus indicating the depth of talent which
showed throughout. The detailed summary of results are at-
tached.

ORIENTEERING
CHAMPIONSHIPS
THE 1980 Orienteering Championships will be held in the
Bicester area on 15th October. The aim will be to encourage
the growth of orienteering within the Corps and enable selection
of a team to represent RAOC in the Inter-Corps Champion-
ships to be held on 1st and 2nd November 1980. The general
degree of experience within the Corps is not high and courses
will be planned with this in mind.
Units are encouraged to enter as many competitors as
possible but to ensure that all Units have an equal chance of
winning, a Unit team of four runners, with the three fastest to
count must be declared before the competition.
The following competitions will be held: RAOC Inter-Unit
Championship; RAOC Individual Champion, Individual Ladies
Champion, RAOC Junior Champion, Guest Individual and
Guest Corps Team.
Accommodation will be available at COD Bicester for those
