Our boys and girls took part in the MODRA Sports at Hendon. The football team recorded our only win but an enjoyable time was had by all and we are looking forward to the CSSC Sports at Nottingham in September. Congratulations to Jane Currie—she got married and is now Mrs Winter, also to Mike Laight on passing his Executive Officer Promotion Board—we'll never get him to join the Army now. The Commandant, Colonel Blakemore, presented ISM's to Mr Alan Hayes, Mr Matt Ratcliffe and Mr George Groves, former Depot employees all now retired—it was nice to see them at Hilton again. Phil Plume has successfully completed the Middle Manage- ment Development Course at the School of Ordnance. He says that he had a quiet time on the social side during his stay at Deepcut but seems to have used this to good effect in the study of defence strategy because he has returned with an impressive knowledge of three day wars and world ammunition stocks. If war does break out we look to him, as Assistant DMA, to organise it on the most economic lines. Welcome to Mrs Linda Richards into our VCC and a fond farewell to Mrs Sally Smith, our cleaner who leaves us on retire- ment. THE RAOC GAZETTE ADVERTISEMENTS Management Services Unit THIS month WOsl Eddie Bullock, Dick Cheesman and Matt Hudson appear in print by royal appointment. They received gold embossed invitation cards to attend the official opening of the School of Military Survey by Her Majesty The Queen. You may well ask what these RAOC Warrant Officers were doing at such a Sapper, or rather Survey, event. In truth we live in Hermitage Station and as such our fine band of men are the three seniors of the Sergeants Mess. There is no living with the three musketeers now, they only shake hands if you wear long gloves. Sandbaggers one and two, Roy Kibblewhite and Dick Cheesman, have been back, as Burnside would say, in the hutch. Like their TV counterparts they are hatching new schemes for UKLF Pools. They obviously believe big is beautiful as their report is numbered in volumes rather than in pages. Our detachment at Hessay has been left bare as both Bob Borchard and W 2 Jim Hargate have been detached to Chilwell. As that depot closes our two have been planning the move to the Stores Section attached to 38 Central Workshop REME into Building 177 along with DSM Vehicle Branch. As they have plotted in detail every new location for Captain Roy Munce they have had to keep Lieutenant John Wood off their backs. He is angling to take over from Roy and would like AG9 to take note! Mention of AG9 brings us to the departure of our Second- in-Command Captain Ken Lawton to DLSA. We will miss you Ken but feel the draw of the RSG will make you a regular visitor. In his place we welcome Captain John Humphreys who is about to be thrown in at the deep end. This first month in post will see him detached to the delights of Hereford—some people get all the rough jobs! CORPS CRICKET RESULTS (Continued from page 113.) RAEC v. RAOC played at Beaconsfield.
