DEPOT ART EIGHTEEN THE Third Annual Art Exhibition organised by 85 Supply Depot RAOC was opened during the preview by Lieutenant General Sir Peter Leng, Commander 1 (BR) Corps at Rochdale Barracks Bielefeld. This years exhibition displayed two hundred works sub- mitted by twenty five artists. Art mediums covered a wide range including oil, water colour, silver point, pen and ink, pencil and a newly developed technique using ordinary string and acrylic paint. TON MEMORIAL THE annual painting of the eighteen ton ' RAOC Cannon' took place recently. The workers pictured in our photograph are, left to right, Major Lennox, Mr Avellano, Mr Jurado, SSM McNuIty, Mr Rennie, Major Fearn and Staff Sergeant Bentley. At the Annual Renovation. Our photograph shows General Leng sharing his views with Major and Mrs Peter Gibson from Headquarters RAOC Corps Troops. UNIT GOLF REPRESENTED CHAMPIONS LAST month produced yet another sporting victory. The RAOC Training Centre retained the UK Inter-Unit Golf Challenge Cup for the second year running against strong opposition at Little Aston. Three of the team Major Ray Ansel (US), Major Henry Lucas and Major Joe Mollett are at the School of Ordnance. The fourth member of the team, Staff Sergeant George Young, serves with the RAOC Staff Band but I am told has been granted Honorary Instructor status in order to keep the cup in the ' family.' CENTRAL Near the cannon a plaque has been mounted on which is inscribed " Ordnance served continuously on Gibraltar from 1704 to 1963. This stone was placed by the Royal Army Ord- nance Corps to commemorate their long association with Gibraltar." The Corps certainly left its mark, but why and when the cannon was placed here, will be revealed after some research in a later issue. FILM AT WIMBLEDON THE Corps was represented at the Inter-Services Lawn Tennis Championships by the Chairman of Corps Tennis Colonel A. J. Paviour who played for the Army Veterans. The Championships are played annually at the All England Club at Wimbledon and each Service fields a mens, ladies and veterans team. In recent years the RAF have tended to dominate the championship and this year again they won both the mens and veterans events.
