gestion Scheme on his subject of the priority backloading of
stores.
On the sporting side, Corporal Des Hardon has just returned
from Exercise Tela One after sailing around the Channel Isles
and France. Back from Cornwall after Wind Surfing is Sergeant
Brian Wilkes, he has now learned how to fall off the board
without much difficulty. Sergeant Dave Gartside and Private
Tom Martin have successfully completed the twenty five miles
required when they both took part in the Annual RMP Chichester
Marches.
Attached to us for four weeks are Captain Ibraham and Cap-
tain Bakar from the Malaysian Army Ordnance Corps, who are
determined to get back home before the English Winter.
Welcome to W02 Phil Beatty, Staff Sergeant Ian Laing and
Corporal Alan Meigh.
Ministry of Defence
MILITARY OPERATIONS has been
its usual very busy self over the last
month. Births have certainly been in
the air throughout. Sergeant Harry Hay
of MOl is the proud father of an-
other son who weighed in at eight
pounds twelve ounces, shortly after I
had sent off last months notes—
extremely bad timing on his part. Staff Sergeant Paul Byron
of M 3 , who is rapidly recovering from a spell as a guest of the
surgeons of QEMH at Woolwich, is getting used to being a dad.
Hekept it so quiet that 1 missed it entirely when compiling last
month's notes. Our congratulations are extended to both delighted
couples.
TECHNICAL EQUIPMENTS
DIVISION
CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Lieutenant Colonel
Owen on successfully passing the Provision Course. Major David
Simmons can now sit back and relax having handed over his ap-
pointment as acting SOI Comms.
Major Tweed and Major Cantor have been observed floating
around the division dreaming of places new, LOA and new
cars. Both are soon to be posted to Dulmen.
Major John Edwards is desperately searching for volunteers
to assist him in his new appointment as Editor Donnington
Garrison Newsletter. It was rumoured that Major Cantor was
going to offer his services but alas his posting must take
priority.
Sportsman of the month award must be credited to Sergeant
Mellit who won a gold medal in the breast stroke relay in the
Army Minor Units Finals. He was also a member of the COD
Donnington swimming team which won the Corps Champion-
ship, the South West District Minor Units Championship and
came third in the Army Minor Units Finals. Well done all!
Best wishes are sent to Captain Brian Crawley who has now
been discharged from hospital after his major operation. We
wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back at work in
the not too distant future.
W02 Ellison has been appointed Clansman Liaison Officer
for BAOR/UK Units but still has time for Wednesday afternoon
fishing matches.
Corporal Prescott is eagerly awaiting the
results of his recent EPC exams.
Staff Sergeant Lawrie Rich being presented with his Long Service
and Good Conduct Medal in the Ministry of Defence by Major'
Ccncral Johnston the Assistant Chief of the General Staff
(Operational Requirements).
Staff Sergeant Rich works in
GS(OR)4.
His colleagues accompanied him at the presentation.
Staff Sergeant Cliff Lee has just gone to the South of France
for three weeks, during the peak period too; can there be any
truth in the rumour that he has been paid time and a half for all
the overtime he has been putting in recently?
One of our WRAC has been having a rather confusing time
lately over postings. During the last three weeks Corporal Anne
Walsh was posted to Cyprus, then to Germany, and now again
to Cyprus—who knows where she will end up when she actually
leaves us in October. My guess is as an instructor at Guildford!
Wherever she goes we wish her success in her new appointment.

CONTROL
DIVISION
CONSERVATIONISTS from DSM(A) had a busy time when
they attempted to clear the C Site Pond of weeds. Twenty three
people were involved, from Colonel Control Division down to
Private Soldier, and in two and a half hours they cleared fifteen
square yards. However, participants said it was not to be recom-
mended as a regular exercise, as at times they were literally up to
their necks in it. It is suggested that mechanical aids be used in
the future.
Work-wise, Corporal Jock Paton has turned things to his
own advantage and became £70 wealthier from the Staff Sug-

Directorate of Supply Computer Services
WE made a clean sweep recently in the dinghy sailing world.
In the Inter Unit Regatta at Netley our 'A' team consisting of
Mr Peter Hart with Captain John Hopkinson and Lieutenant
Nigel Banks with Mr Mark Tennant, handsomely beat the
DGOS ' B,' COD Bicester and Training Centre 'A' and ' C '
teams. The second day's sailing was postponed due to heavy
winds. The Regatta was eventually resumed a month later at
Calvert. By this time external commitments forced changes in
the 'A' team which was comprised of Mr Peter Hart with Cap-
tain Warwick Stanton and Captain John Hopkinson with Cap-
tain Carl Hoe. Once again resounding wins were achieved over
the Apprentice College and Training Centre ' B ' teams. Finally
there was a long and exciting battle against the DGOS 'A' team
in the last race with both teams poised to win the trophy.
Eventually DSCS prevailed and came home clear winners.
In the RAOC Individual Championships our successes were
Bob and Beryl Marshall second, Captain John Hopkinson with
Lance Corporal Peter Westwood sixth and Captain Carl Hoe
with son Mark eighth. Bob Marshall and Captain John Hop-
kinson represented the DSCS team in this competition and
successfully retained the Minogue Trophy for the second year.
In the offshore sailing world Peter Hart and Mike Harris
(there are now two Mike Harris's in Bicester—utterly confusing,
particularly as both are keen sailors—this is the DSCS Mike
Harris!) returned bronzed and loaded to the gunwhales with
duty-free after a ten day adventure training sail (Tela I) in the
English Channel. Fortunately it was prior to the French trawler-
mens' blockade of Channel ports and Cherbourg, Aldemey,
