says he will cry and stamp his feet if he doesn't get a mention. Jones (05) you're on! We welcome to the fold Lieutenant Phil Bean and cross country to Wulfen and say farewell to Lieutenant Dyer to RMCS and congratulate him on his promotion. We also con- gratulate Tram on elevation to the dizzy heights of acting Lance Corporal and pray that the ' big fella' at Wigston smiles upon you. We also.say farewell to W02 Jacques Desfontaines and family and wish him and Sandra every success in Head- quarters UKLF. In Jacques place we welcome W 2 Ken Quinn and family from Headquarters NORTHAG and W02 Andy Angove and family including the horse that barks. STOP PRESS. Did you hear about the Ammunition Technician in Northern Ireland who whilst attempting to blow up a suspect vehicle burnt his mouth, on the exhaust pipe. 4 Petroleum Depot BEING the month of leave, not a great deal has happened; we did however have the pleasure of a visit from the GOC 2nd Armoured Division Major General Farndale. The visit proved a great success culminating in an excellent lunch produced by our German canteen. On the sporting scene our cricket team has done extremely well. Out of five matches played this month, only one has been lost, that to BMH Munster in the Munster Garrison knockout competition. As the season progressed so did the standard. Our last match versus 113 Provost Company RMP saw the Unit declaring after twenty overs at one hundred and nine for two, a record! When it was the turn of RMP they could only manage thirty five runs. 1st British Corps A ^ ^ M m ^f ^k ^^fr^^k ^ H | y^m ^ B ^m ^^W ^^ HEADQUARTERS STAFF CLERKS. Our featured branch this month is Garrison Training/EPS, or would it be better to say Headquarters 1 (BR) Corps Golf Club. The reason being Staff Sergeant Mike (Lee Trevirro) Dawson and Corporals Ian Nelson, Charlie Potts and Brian Marsden, have all taken to the swinging of golf clubs under the tuition of our GSOl Lieutenant Colonel Holman. (Come on lads it's not Confidential Report time yet). We also have a budding young cricket star in the branch in Lance Corporal Bob Pullan, who took two wickets with two consecutive balls in a Corps Commanders Cup cricket match recently. He hasn't stopped telling everybody yet, and rumour has it that he is signing for the MCC next season! The branch like everybody else in the Corps are winding up for Exercise Spcarpoint, although we expect a pretty cushy time running Control Headquarters at Hildesheim, with real camp beds and tents to sleep in. We are also breathlessly awaiting the birth of Corporal Ian Nelson's first child, which is scheduled to happen during the exercise. The messes have been asked to order extra beer to wet the baby's head, (being a Scotsman will he pay for it?). Our congratulations go to Corporal Charlie Potts (his second mention) and Lance Corporal Carol Bonsell WRAC (formally Johnson) who have both just recently married, not to each other I might add. We wish them all the best for the future. Away from Garrison Training/EPS congratulations go to ' S u b ' Staff Sergeant Jerry Trottier, CC GSD, on finally being told that he had received his substantive promotion. Some of us arc still waiting Jerry!!! golfer of our department—Jock Falconer—has been out practising very hard and has finally solved his problem—he was standing too close to the ball , after he has hit it! ORDNANCE COMPANY OUR marching team, led by Second Lieutenant Richard Great- head and driven by Sergeant Maclntyre, took part in the 64th International Nijmegen Marches. The training for this event started seriously the month before. Many a weekend and evening was spent trudging, relentlessly, around the roads of the Soltau Training Area. At this stage the team was but a bunch of raw recruits to the sport, but they were soon licked into shape and went on to finish the four day course gaining both individual and team medals. The team lost a lot of weight, and a great deal of DMs boot sole, but they gained the invaluable expsrience of a fantastic week (and a few Dutch girlfriends). The swimming team under the direction of Sergeant Hymers went on to represent the Division in Berlin, competing in the finals of the BAOR Swimming Championships (Minor Units) standards were extremely high and the team were placed third overall. However their efforts have been outstanding and they deserve a great amount of credit. Well done the swimmers. The Unit expresses its congratulations to the following on their recent promotions: Staff Sergeant Duke, Sergeant Ferrier, Corporals Litchfield and Eades, also to Mrs Young our able typist, for giving birth to a bouncing baby boy. We say welcome to Lieutenant Perks who is attached to the Unit for a short while from RMCS Shrivenham and Lieu- tenant Thickett who is an Australian Exchange Officer with us on Exercise Long Look. We have a fond farewell to our contender for Exercise Long Look, Lieutenant Alan Goldie (now studying the wildlife of the Australian Logistic System) and also to Corporal Cusack, Privates Kirkby and Davies. We wish them all well in their new roles. STORES PLATOON 7 ARMOURED WORKSHOP SERGEANT MICK SORRENSON from the MT Section ran a very successful driver training exercise and had the following successes: HGV1—Captain Kerr, Lance Corporals Biggs and Guest, Privates Farina and Knight; HGV2—Staff Sergeant Beed- ham, Privates Bennett, Lashmar and Tiller and too many motor- cycle licenses to mention. The exercise involved approximately ten hours driving per day, which included some cross-country work and night driving. This is the second year that a driver A HOME of your OWN? As August starts the football season once more all the potential Kevin Keegans will be busy training and brushing up on all the skills that have been allowed to get rusty throughout the close season (the happy hour at the end of each match). Alas we will not be putting forward a team for the DOS and DDOS cup competitions this season—we want other teams to have a chance!
