Transcription splitting of the Ayris, Thornett ' twins'), Lance Corporal Lewis
ACC to MCTC Colchester and Private Stotan to Chilwell. We
welcome Sergeant O'Connell, Privates Wynne and Tyrrell and
Private Flannagan ACC.
Watch out for future editions featuring the Spearpoint war
stories.
Parts of the Unit begin to look a bit more like a vehicle
holding Unit as a sudden influx of temporary issues of four ton
trucks fill the wide open spaces on the back park prior to
Crusader. However, Q Barnett will lose these toys after the
exercise and hopefully get some new ones on a slightly more
permanent basis.
Privates Brocklehurst and Blackburn recently returned from
an adventure training exercise in France and were able to
demonstrate their newly acquired skills when the Unit sponsored
the 2nd Armoured Division down river canoe race. Lieutenant
McGhie and Lance Corporal Brockie also competed but the
most spectacular entry by far was made by Private Curthoys
who capsized and spent some time sampling the rotary washing
machine effect under the first weir eventually emerging minus
swimming trunks! Lieutenant Colonel Hellis, CRAOC Corps
Troops presented the prizes at the end of the day and despite
a slight shortage of entries a good time was had by all.

43 REPLENISHMENT
PARK COMPANY
WE recently had a Company disco
held in a local disco especially rented
for the purpose. A good night was had
by all and thanks are due to Sergeant
Les Livesy and the CSM, Dave Avery,
for organising it.
The Company March Team led
and trained by Sergeant Les Livesy
went off to Nijmegen and proudly
returned with individual and team
medals. Well done: W02 Rony Pearce, Corporal Duncan Rudd,
Privates John Bache, Dipple, Savage Maclver, Miel Overton,
Geordie Tweddle, Winnie Winstanley, Mick Wray and bikey
Mark Brown. We shall be there again next year—where are you
44 and 49 Companies?
The March and Shoot Team also did well in winning the
competition sponsored by 44 Replenishment Park Company. It
is rumoured that 44 Replenishment Park Company even entered a
team, but they must have got lost on the day, (or was it the
rain?). Our team consisted of: Sergeant John Balding, Corporals
Ricky Dunne and Robbo Robinson, and Lance Corporals Ian
Crouch and Pete Turner. Lance Corporal Turner had, in fact,
only arrived in Germany the day before, but promptly volun-
teered, or was it ordered?, as he walked through the door.
We've now started a fishing club. Don't know what they're
angling for but I suspect it will boost Staff Sergeant Mick Fare-
brother's rent-a-truck business. The Company Club at Nieheim
is being refurbished and the new Star Wars machine is doing
overtime.
We welcome Sergeant Nobby Clark, without the ' e,' Sergeant
Tony Garland and Lance Corporal Pete Turner, fresh from the
' Green.'

49 REPLENISHMENT
PARK COMPANY
CORPORAL MEAH, one of our very professional band of heli-
copter handlers, has been seen wandering around the Unit
shaking his head and muttering something about that ' photo-
graph ' in THE GAZETTE and logistic load carrier for the eighties?
His dialogue went something like this. After all, the Chinook
has been in service with the Americans since 1962, and the model
the RAF will be getting will be a refurbished CH47, it does have
peculiarities (downdraft!) but in the final analysis it is just
another helicopter that any professional should be able to handle
and get on with the job
! What on earth is all the
fuss about!
1 wonder what he meant? The OC of course has remained
rather neutral over the whole affair, come to think of it of
course, he really is neutral, being OC Neutral Organisation for
Exercise Spearpoint, but only because, rumour has it, no-
body else would touch it with a barge pole!
Back to the ranch. Private Wallace has decided he is bored
With not working and wants to return early from leave, the
Administrative Officer has decided he is not bored and required
leave, and to hammer the point home has flown to Hong Kong.
We have heard of ' oneupmanship' but that is taking things too
far. We were delighted to welcome Brigadier and Mrs Skinner
to our annual Anglo German cocktail party, a good time was
had by all.
We will soon be saying farewell to the Battalion Second-in-
Command, Major Bradley, one time Officer Commanding 49
Replenishment Park Company on posting and promotion. Well
done Major Bradley and many thanks for being a true friend
and mentor of 49—see you in February 1981!

CORPS VEHICLE COMPANY
YET another month passes with the Barracks looking like a
building site as the Units Part I service wends its weary way in
the general direction of completion. At present we are all gazing
at a shining new guardroom eagerly awaiting its completion and
handover. CSM Dunn (soon to be RSM Dunn) has now
reconciled himself to the fact that it has no cells and is eagerly
looking forward to having the guard bulling up its floors.
