recently presented with his Long Service and Good Conduct

89 SUPPLY DEPOT
IT is with regret that we report the deaths of two of our civilian
staff. The first was ' Manta' a GSO labourer who had worked
in the Depot for eighteen years. The ' Kase King' Gustav
Raimer, sadly died of a heart attack while on holiday.
Sport in the Depot continues to flourish with Staff Sergeants
Paul Thayre and Frank Smith running a forty kilometre march.
They were keenly followed (Marching) by Sergeants Brian Taylor
and Dave Jones, Corporals Billy Gairns and Graham Moore.
Staff Sergeant Thayre also won the eight hundred metres, in the
Viersen athletics meeting.
Congratulations are due to W02 Ken Maullin and Frauline
Ingrid Hoyer on their recent betrothal. Sadly they will be
separated for a while as Ken is posted to Northern Ireland

GOLDRING'S cricketing geriatrics won
this year's DOS Cup Competition in an
interesting game against Ordnance Depot
Antwerp; Major Wes Thomas was ad-
judged Man of the Match by Brigadier
Skinner who presented the prizes. This
y e a r s e e s the break up of a very successful
side, who, in the past three seasons, have
won the BAOR Minor Units Cup, DOS
Cup (twice), Rhine Area Cup and Rhine
Area League Division One (twice). (The
in with the newsletter, arrived too late.—
Editor).
By the time this note is put in print we will have said fare-
well to the Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Lane.' We
thank the Colonel and Mrs Lane for everything they have done
for Wulfen Station in the past two years and wish them every
happiness for the future.
We extend a warm welcome to our new Station Commander
Lieutenant Colonel John Sharland and hope that he has an enjoy-
able time here.
154 FORWARD AMMUNITION
DEPOT
WE are still in the midst of Crusader 80 although our main
exercise Kukri Blade, which was designed to test security, NBC,
and soldierly skills, is finished. I think the majority of the soldiers
found this interesting if not to say enjoyable, particularly the
Orange Forces Heliborne Attack by members of the United
States Rangers. I don't think the Rangers have a limit on the
use of blank ammunition! They arrived in a blaze of John
Wayne Glory blasting away like the resurrection of Iwo Jima.
We had a few exercise casualties: Lance Corporal Tram
Trambowicz, Privates Tom Nicholson and Benny Bennett. All
three were shot dead at various times and in various places.
They are now walking around with a serene look on their faces
and making gestures towards people. They have since been told
that they may keep the serene looks but to stop the gesturing.
Lieutenant Philip Beon was eliminated in one of the attacks
and Staff Sergeant Mick Morrison was granted a field commission
to replace him. The CO was not too pleased at the thought
of a subaltern who drank Reds straight from the can! Sergeant
