Transcription listed in 1933 he has now completed almost forty eight years
service.
Lieutenant Colonel Saunders leaves us with our sincere
thanks for his sterling work for the Corps, both in uniform and
as a Retired Officer.
Long may he enjoy his final retirement.
A
CLEAN
LIVING
MANY readers will be surprised to learn of the retirement of
Herr Hanfried Rosenfeldt MBE, from his post as Manager of
No. 6 Static Laundry at Hohne. Herr Rosenfeldt has been em-
ployed in one capacity or another in the laundry since 1946 and
for the last twenty five years he has been the manager, almost a
permanent fixture, and to be honest he still looks far too young
to retire!
Eight tons of laundry and a ton-and-a-half of dry cleaning
is processed daily by the laundry and this output over a period
N e w Heights.
Both Sergeant Bloor and Corporal McKendrick had oppor-
tunities to visit Turin and other nearby places of interest
and came back having thoroughly enjoyed the whole venture.
The only ' complaint' they had was over the cooking arrange-
ments. Confusion reigned as cookhouse changed to galley and
vice-versa, depending upon who was cooking — the service
expedition cooks or the commando cooks!
On Exercise Crusader Corporal McKendrick also had the
opportunity of running the Bath Unit for a part of the Orange
Forces. At one point he was overrun with women from the
American 82nd Airborne Signals detachment wanting a shower.
He has swom he didn't peep.
HELP
Herr Hanfried Rosenfeldt.
of some thirty four years is some achievement on the Hanfried
Line. But Herr Rosenfeldts' life has been full of achievements;
first as a member of the German Army during World War II
where he received many decorations including the Iron Cross
1st Class, serving in Poland, France and Russia, and it is
rumoured that he was the first German Officer into Dunkirk.
After the war he joined 2nd Army Static Laundry (eventually
re-named No. 6 Static Laundry) where he was awarded the MBE
in 1968 for his work in its reorganising and modernisation.
A rare double the Iron Cross and MBE!
We all wish Hanfried a happy retirement and good luck to
both him and to his wife Kaefhe.
BIANCO
FOR
THE
DISABLED
TOGETHER with Regional Depot RAOC Stirling, RAOC at
Army Headquarters Scotland recently raised the creditable sum
of £150 for the Gogarbum Group of Riding for the Disabled.
Our photograph shows Mrs Connolly, wife of CRAOC Scot-
land, presenting the cheque to Miss Veall the organiser of the
Group.
The funds are being raised to furnish riding facilities for
disabled persons to improve their quality of life.
BATHING
FOR three weeks Exercise Monte Bianco provided a rare
opportunity for a Bath Unit to be used for a more uncon-
ventional purpose—that of providing shower facilities for a
group of climbers. An inter-service climbing expedition was
attempting to scale Mont Blanc and a detachment of Royal
Marine Commandos from Arbroath was undergoing climbing
training. It was the task of Sergeant Bloor REME and Corpora]
McKendrick RAOC, both of the 1 (BR) Corps Troops Ord-
nance Company, to run the Bath Unit for this mixture of
some one hundred and ten people.
:
After a twenty four hour drive, with only one stop at the
French Ordnance Barracks at Mulhouse, they arrived at their
destination. This was the Alpini Barracks at Val Veni in
Northern Italy. The region was suffering the worst summer for
eighty four years and, apart from the last nine days, the
weather was very bad. At the end of each day there were some
very dirty climbers!

Photo Sergeant Grey.
RDA receive the cheque.
