Transcription DEEPCUT
A DECADE
First place went to Lance Corporal
Eaton of Headquarters BAOR/Narthag
in a most creditable time of 34 minutes 55
seconds; second was Sergeant Towers-
Clarke of Wulfen with 36.04; and third
was Corporal Wreyford of Dulmen 'A'
with 36.35. The first three teams were
Dulmen 'A,' Combat Supplies Battalion
and 3 Armoured Division, in that order.
Dulmen took the honours with an im-
pressive display of the fruits of training
and dedication. They fielded two teams,
and only Sergeant Yeats of I Armoured
Division, who came tenth, broke up a
solid wedge of Dulmen runners from third
to eleventh place. Special credit goes to
Captain Andy Jelly of Dulmen who com-
pleted the course to come eleventh, despite
a gashed knee which subsequently received
hospital treatment. RAOC (BAOR) wish
him and his team every success for the
higher level events of the season. Combat
Supplies Battalion also did well to im-
prove radically on their previous cham-
pionship position of sixth, and pip new-
comers 3 Armoured Division into third
place.
All in all it proved to be an excellent
day's sport, with a high turnout and an
encouragingly high standard of com-
petition.

TRAVERS
parte Report
CLARKE
ATHLETICS 19TS
THE Travers Clarke Athletics Meeting is to be held at the
Military Stadium, Aldershot on the 6th and 7th June 1978.
Slight changes have been made to the competition rules.
These rules will be forwarded to all units in due course.
Last year's Meeting demonstrated that major and minor
units can compete on an equal basis and maintain a good
standard of athletics. It is hoped therefore, that many more
units will consider entering this year.

THE RAOC (BAOR)
CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
THE RAOC (BAOR) Cross Country Championship Meeting
1977 was held at Dulken Woods, Viersen. The event was
organised by SSD Viersen and attracted a healthy field of ninety
five runners and eleven teams.
The race started with a flourish of the Corps flag by Briga-
dier Crawley, DOS BAOR, and runners set off in a biting wind
on 6.3 miles of sodden, often steep T woodland paths. Ironically,
Captain Andrew Byles of SSD Viersen, having set the course,
could not run on the day due to 'flu and the prevalence of
restraining counsels. Perhaps he knew something the others
did not!

Major D. B. H. Ford, Vehicle Depot Ashchurch; Lieutenant
