1972.
HEADQUARTERS
MANY congratulations to SSM George Dey on his recent pro-
motion. Rumour has it that his next posting is to the Middle
East there to reap the financial benefits that we European
bound soldiers are deprived of. Ah, well, I bet the taxman
catches up with you eventually, George!
An "A" for sheer productivity goes this month to Corporal
and Mrs Lamble who were recently blessed with brand spank-
ing new twins. Public Relations takes on a new meaning,
While on awards let's give another "A," for nonchalance
this time. The end of another long Saturday shift in the
Mounting Centre, at the heart of the current Green Goddess
campaign, was in sight for W 2 Ivor Cook, new chief clerk
GSD and late of Headquarters BAOR. Suddenly the word
came through: "Reinforce Bermuda tomorrow 1" Ivor tidied
his Green Goddess desk, moved across to his Reinforce Bermuda
desk, handled the clerical back-up beautifully, and handed
over his shift just five minutes late!
Further additions to GSD include Corporal G. P. Allen
(ex-RMP) from Northern Ireland and the Super Clerk's tem-
porary right hand man Corporal C V. Whitford from BAOR,
the latter pending redundancy. To further complicate matters,
GSD recently moved offices but all should be working smoothly
again eventually, ie next May.

HEADQUARTERS
OUR photograph shows our Chief Fire
Officer Mr Eric Bellars with one of his
crews partaking of a no doubt welcome
cup of tea. We dare not ask him how
long it is since he wore his white Fire
Bobbies Helmet, but we do dare com-
plement Eric and his Right and Left
Hands Fire Officers John Lampitt and
Gerry McMasson on the job they are
doing, not forgetting their " a m a t e u r "
crews who in fact are not now so amateur!

I suppose you are wondering the purpose of the photograph.
Well—it's twofold. Firstly, to get you to read our newsletter to
find out why the photograph is there: you probably wouldn't
read it otherwise—and secondly, we are trying to brighten up
THE GAZETTE, and at the same time put out a challenge to
other contributors to add to the glamour. You've seen our
entry—now better it
/ look forward to other unit entries but with a tittle more
in form at ion? —Editor.

ORDNANCE
BRANCH
NO ONE has been abroad since the last
newsletter—Colonel Gregan did try to sell
a three month visit to Belize to the Grade
Us but without success,
For some time there has been a nagging
fear in Materiel about where their next
cup of coffee or tea was coming from- In
a male dominated Materiel office Marion
was the sole maker of liquid refreshment
and when she was away Mrs Alison from
the other side had to stand in. Now all is resolved, Harry
Clapham is out-numbered three to one in the office and Paula
(Mrs Willis) or Pamela (Mrs Turner) are to be seen going from
office complete with tray and a piece of paper to ensure that
everyone gets their tea in the accustomed cup. We welcome
them both and congratulate Ricky Richardson on improving
the tone of the office.
Corporal Kelly seems to be somewhat quieter since he
returned from his honeymoon, whether it's the added responsi-
bility of married life which is bearing down on him is not
clear. The weight on Mairead Cassidy's arms is due to her
elevation to the rank of Lance Corporal. One does wonder
about the promotion methods in the WRAC, do they always
award stripes for having tonsils out? Anyway, it's nice to see
her smiling face around the Branch again.

Another rough job in Northern Ireland over.
Time for a cuppa,
This month we have said goodbye to Staff Sergeant Pete
Regan, and we wish him and his family a pleasant new
tour.
Welcome to our new Chief Clerk Staff Sergeant Eddie
Mayes, and our " new m a n " from Scotland Private Bill
Coubrough,

DEPOT NORTHERN
IRELAND
THE quiet waters have remained undisturbed by visitors this
month except for a fleeting visit by the Second in Command
designate Major Dexter.
The tranquillity was only broken as we entered a hectic
Christmas festivity programme started by the Sergeants Mess
Dance and Draw, and continued by parties for both pensioners
and children. With dinners for Senior Ranks and Junior
Ranks alike, culminated by the Hilton Club Dance and Draw
it can be assumed that Santa departed from this area well
and truly exhausted.
