lT only comes once a year and indeed it's
here again [ A Happy New Year to alL
Hibernation should have been complete
by now but the underground cells are
still hard at work. We started the month
by a most welcome visit from Colonel D.
C. Stone (Colonel L SA1) DLSA. He
stayed three days with us and we praise
his patience and goodwill.
Our squash team went to Rhein-
dahlen to compete in the BAOR RAOC
Championship. It was a most enjoyable two days although we
•ltd not have much success.
The Station Football Team started the season extremely
well. They have played five league games winning four and
drawing one. They beat VSD Moenchengladbach two nil in
the DOS Cup and Dusseldorf Station eight nil in the Rhine
Area Minor Unit Cup.
A good season is on the horizon
despite losing four experienced players.
154 FORWARD
AMMUNITION
DEPOT
THE season of good cheer is almost upon us, by the time you
cad this you will probably be saying that you're glad it's in the
past. But before you start counting the costs of food eaten,
liquid consumed and presents bought, we of 154 FAD would
like to wish all past, present and possible future members a
very Happy New Year.
The winner of the Sergeants Mess Draw First Prize (a
new motor car) was the only " non driver" in the Mess, WOl
Hunt.
This time of the year is not the best to be moving, especially
if back to the UK (we hear they are putting the price of beer
•ip yet again), but the posting plot continues. We therefore say
*a re well to Staff Sergeant Ken Martin, Sheila and the girls, o*n
posting to Devizes. In his place we welcome Staff Sergeant
Lenny Robertson and family from Viersen. It would seem that
the CQMS's appointment in 154 FAD is doomed to be filled by
ex paras! !
We also wish the best of good fortune to WOl Terry
Park, leaving to join the higher echelon of DLSA. We also
congratulate Terry on his recent promotion and Long Service
and Good Conduct Medal. He leaves still owing the Chief
Clerk a crate of beer.
In WOl Park's place we welcome W02 John Burgess from
flramley.
The ranks of the Unit have been temporarily increased by
five 7 Guided Missiles Company members, namely, WOl Dusty
Doust, Staff Sergeant Alan Wrotchford, Corporal John Fleming,
Privates John Lovage and Ian Cheshire.
The Ammunition Wing welcomes the arrival of three addi-
tional clerks, Privates Whitley, Stringer and ' Tram ' Trambowicz.
We also say farewell to Lance Corporal Phil Walls and
family on posting to Colchester.

AT a recent ceremony in the Kellar Bar of the Gladbacher
Theatre Workshop our CRAOC, Lieutenant Colonel Paul
Vickery, presented C-in-Cs Germany Long and Meritorious
Service Certificates to five members of the staff. Our photo-
graph shows Herr Ernst Bernard being presented with a twenty
five year certificate. Other recipients were Mr Lionel Cordrey
(Lieutenant RN Retd), Senhor Victor de Cavalho, Herr Edward
Hoffman and Monsieur Victorien Pacquet, who is soon to
retire to his home town—Quebec. The ceremony concluded
with a farewell presentation to Miss Dilys Jones who has
returned to UK.
The Kellar Bar is the scene for all unit functions by
kind permission of the Chairman of the Gladbacher Theatre
Workshop, Mr Alan Stoney, who is ably assisted by his wife
behind the bar.
Mr Stoney has just completed a run as
principal actor in a very successful production called "Pools
Paradise.'* By permission of the OC he is also our Accom-
modation Stores Accountant at Willich where, as another
sideline, he also runs the MQES.
Finally it is with regret we report the death of Herr Heinz
Teuffers, a former BIA of this unit.
After working in the Krefefd Barrack Office for a number
of years, Heinz was promoted BIA in 1953 and was initially
in charge of married quarters at Viersen during the move of
15 BOD from Hamburg. He remained with the Krefeld Sub
Charge when it was absorbed into Barrack Services Rhine Area
and retired as Senior BIA in January 1975.
We offer our condolences to Frau Tilley Teuffers and
family.
Herr Ernst: Bernard receives his Long and Meritorious Certificate
from Lieutenant Colonel Paul Vickery.

During the past few weeks there has been a
^T
number of occurrences which it is considered i merit
mention in these pages. Firstly, Corporal J e d '
Stone has successfully completed his Bi Clerk's Upgrading
Course and is therefore now fully qualified for elevation to the
next rank. In the meantime, his relief has been nominated which
now leaves Corporal Stone and the more ardent crystal ball
gazers pondering over his next posting, and in what rank!
No doubt the Bielefeld Javelins will be keeping their fingers
crossed that this preoccupation does not impede his performance
on the rugby field. Upon Corporal Stone's return from his
course, the Chief Clerk, Staff Sergeant Paul Blaber, immediately
departed for Winterbourne Gunner (Salisbury Plain's answer to
Colditz) and spent two weeks undergoing instruction in the
wonders and mysteries of NBC Warning and Reporting duties.
The course apparently culminated with a complete day spent in
full NBC kit and respirators, whilst periodically being subjected
AT the time of putting pen to paper festivities had already
begun within the Unit. Commencing with the Unit Dance ,in
the civilian canteen where a good time was had by all The
evening was made more enjoyable with the arrival of eighteen
nurses from the local hospital at Datteln. This gave the single
soldiers more than the buffet and raffle to look forward to.
Almost the whole of the next week will be taken up with
'he usual Yule Tide get togethers. From the Mechanised Trans-
port Office cries of Yo H o Ho can be heard. It has to be
explained to visitors that it is only Staff Sergeant Simpson
practising his role of Santa Claus for the children's Christmas
parties.
Congratulations to Staff Sergeant Wightman on his pro-
motion to W 2 which comes in handy as we say farewell to
CSM McLarty on his Works Study Operators Course, giving
the RQMS the dual role of CSM/RQMS until a relief has been
nominated for the CSM.
We welcome back Private (Punk Rock) Carroll from his
month long holiday at Munster, looking a slimmer better Private
Carroll.
Apart from the CSM we say farewell to Lieutenant Singer
and Private Garton and welcome to Captain Taylor and Lance
Corporal Watson,
