Transcription A relatively quiet month for G Training/EPS- We have
imilly seen the last of Private Pete Lewis and welcome in his
^lace Private Brian Marsden who is now firmly installed as
-nurses king. Corporal Jed Stone has at last received his
posting order to Headquarters BAOR—much relief in the
Supervising Oliice whom he pestered for months. Lance Corporal
John Lehmann appeared in the office the other day with his arm
in a sling; he was apparently injured whilst playing in goal for
Headquarters Regiment who conceded six goals. He is playing
up front next week. We hope that he can keep injury-free be-
cause we need his talents in the current Commander's Cup
hockey and basketball competitions in which G Training are
well represented and determined to do well against the forces
of evil, namely AQ and Ordnance Branches.
We welcome Corporal Allan Morris who has joined us from
the murky depths of R and D and we trust he will enjoy his
stay in more rarified air. We say a sad farewell to Mrs Kate
MacLaren, who by the time the notes are published, will have
moved to the Automatic Typewriter office. We are sorry to
see her go and thank her warmly for all her hard work on the
BATUS front. However, we will have a contact in this
mysterious and much publicised department.
We are not sure if we should be saying farewell to our Staff
Assistant WOl Frank Linnane. He has been keeping a very
low if energetic profile being involved both in the BAOR
Squash Championships and Exercise Snow Queen. He's not
daft is our Frank 1
In AQ Operations, work continues but we offer con-
gratulations to Lance Corporal Alan Woods on passing his
RPC2, and await with bated breath the results of his EPC
course.
In the dungeons the hard-working R and D Section have
been re-decorating their offices under the professional eye of
Sergeant Allah Mellitt and Post NCO Corporal Tom Baillie RPC.
It has certainly brightened the place up lads.

ORDNANCE BRANCH
A VERY subdued month indeed for the dreaded Branch. Our
sincere good wishes go to Sergeant Allan Mellitt on his recent
marriage. We wish Allan and Rosemary all good luck in the
future. No hidden meanings for once—only this once, mind
you! Sergeant Grszewski and Corporal Huge Ward lightened
one week, by struggling over to the Incinerator with copious
sacks of waste, setting themselves up for a warm and comfortable
half hour, then discovering both are non-smokers. If an 8461
arrives at Bicester for a Boxes Tinder, you'll know where it
came from.
The Orange Commander returned from leave in a new
command vehicle and can now be seen loitering around the
MT trying to fit a Rolls Royce radiator into an ex-Army Air-
portable Land Rover. Reckons the shock will get him past the
first two check points.
The Branch Dinner in December was most successful, al-
though the after-dinner jokes might suggest a better brand of
crackers be purchased next time. And to cap it all, the wife of
the DDOS won the star raffle prize—how strange I
Major Stewart Rowsell has pride of place in ' The Obscure
Remark of the Month Award/ he was overheard to say " I
believe civilian couplings are different" He could be right,
there are more of them you know.
For all you people who like to walk the sidewalks of the
world—beware! W02 Joe (Brabham) Fletcher has passed his
driving test. His ex-instructor is now a certified neurotic!
And Joe has taken to collecting scrap metal, gates, dustbins,
other's bumper bars etc,
Two very enterprising and artistic members of the branch
redecorated a bust on someone's desk, as Victoria before him—
just—Womble Gleeson was NOT amused.

JANUARY was certainly SSM Del
Henty's month. He was promoted, awarded
the Long Service and Good Conduct
Medal, got a new set of teeth and was
only a month to being posted
What
more could a man ask for? (A house in
Hohne would be the reply I) Whilst saying
farewell to Del, we welcome SQMS Pete
Roberts as assistant DOWO, The DOWO
(Senior?) is taking a hard earned rest by
cutting down his overtime! Mind you,
he and Major David Avery went to Paris to see the rugger
international and they still haven't seen the Eifel Tower!
Private Alan Ritchie has re-appeared from BATUS and
leave and together with Corporal Alan Meigh is welcomed to
the fold. Sergeant Len Wrightson is making his name in bowl-
ing circles, proving one of the top bowlers in North Germany.
Second Lieutenant Lloyd Roberts is asking about MFO so he
must be going soon.
Tve been asked to identify myself so perhaps next month
I'll send a photograph.
11 ORDNANCE FIELD PARK
THE Officers of 34 Panzer Battalion were entertained to a
Curry Lunch at the Officers Mess. An enjoyable lunch and
much to Herr Oberst Becker's relief, Captains Bentley and
Ewart returned his Adjutant and Barracks intact!
The strain of merry making was apparently all too much
for some of our ' Men of Iron' who opted for the peaceful-
ness of Site Guard for a week. Others chose the strenuous
demands of Snow Queen but failed to surpass Second Lieu-
tenant Lloyd's example of his leg breaking feat (or feet?) on
the death defying nursery slopes of Grasghlen.
Against this backdrop of professionalism the Stores have
managed to increase their holdings by forty per cent and PC and
A have had to meet a seventy five per cent increase in demands.
Whereas Corporal Irvine on the CQ's side has ' no shortage of
berets—just not enough to go round!'
We welcome Sergeant Hayes, Corporals McKenna and
Milburn, Lance Corporals Falconer and Harley; and Private
Doyle. Sadly we bade farewell to Lance Corporals Thomas and
Macdonald who left for civilian life—we wish them well.
STORES PLATOON 7 ARMOURED WORKSHOP
OUR first hurdle of the new year, PRE, begins on the first of
February. Our drivers with some clerical and storeman assistance
are beavering away towards this deadline.
Congratulations are extended to Corporal Nobby and
Catherine Baggaley on the birth of a baby boy, on New Year's
Day. Paul was so eager to see the world he arrived eight
weeks early weighing in at three pounds six ounces,
We welcome to the fold Corporal Stu Thomson as our
new E and MA clerk and Private Steve Hartley to the control
office, via the MRS following a rugby injury,
Best wishes on posting go to Sergeant Ray and Audrey
Carse to 4 Armoured Division Ordnance Company, Private
Yorky and Elaine Nisbett to 1 BR Corps Combat Supplies
Battalion, Private Scouse and Maureen Kilfoyle to Bicester and
Private Colin Walker to 10 Ordnance Support Battalion. Private
Ken Buckley leaves us for a four month tour in Northern
Ireland.
Finally Lance Corporal Ralph Usher is to be congratulated
on promotion,
STORES SECTION 45 FIELD REGIMENT WORKSHOP
WE are now safely settled in at Hohne, except for the boss
who is a weekend commuter to Paderborn until his move to
Verden in February, so we feel we should give a quick run
down on ourselves.
The clerks are SQMS Pete Roberts, Staff Sergeant Chris
Kelly, Corporal Dixie Hale and Private Ray Morrall. The
storemen marshalled by Sergeant Len Reynolds are Corporal
Harry Jeanne, Lance Corporal Davie Jones and Private Oggie
Roberts. Our two drivers are Privates Alan Innes and Pete
Luckman,
All our vehicles safely motored up here from Sunny
Sennelager, including our faithful old Fordson, but much to
the disappointment of Len Reynolds we have now lost it on
backloading, so Len cannot leave a day early every time we
move t
Things are going along very quietly at the moment but no
doubt that will all change when the Workshop eventually dis-
cover in which box they packed the 890s. We know where they
are but are adopting a low profile at the moment as one desk
between four clerks on an open landing does not encourage
one to be very productive!
