position.
The day was rounded off by the very last 6 OFP Disco,
organised by Sergeant Hodgkiss, and with another superb buffet
by Lance Corporals Cowl and Gawthorpe (ACC).

On the sporting side, the hockey team has been gamely
playing on and suffered another defeat, at the hands of 3
Armoured Division Engineer Regiment this time. Even so the
team is rapidly improving and hopes soon to announce its first
victory.
The squash team kept their end up once again winning
four to one against the 2nd Royal Irish even though two of
:
heir players Major Skinner and Corporal Shaw had played
tockey just before the match.
Congratulations to Captain Skift on his majority and to
Corporal Dempsey (ACC) on passing his Bl to AI Cooks
Course and promotion to Sergeant.
Congratulations also to Private Williams and Lance
Corporal Holden (WRAC) on their marriage, and a warm wel-
come to six new arrivals Privates Bush, Dickenson, Hynd,
O'Mara, Robertson and Shearin.
STORES PLATOON 5 ARMOURED
WORKSHOP
WE'VE changed our name! On D Day, the 1st January, we
became a Platoon, a great elevation from our former Section
status.
The OC however, often forgets that he now commands such
a potent force and needs the occasional reminder that; " We're
not a Section, we're a Platoon, Sir. 1 '
To be more objective, the actual business of restructuring is
affecting us a great deal more than just our name. New soldiers,
more stores and more vehicles keep arriving. Amongst those
arrivals we welcome Staff Sergeant Woodley, Lance Corporals
McMillan, Francis; Privates Adkins, Kirkwood and Fairley.
We say goodbye to Private Gilbert on an inter-BAOR posting.
STORES SECTION 3 ARMOURED
DIVISION
ENGINEER REGIMENT
WORKSHOP
THE main highlight as suggested in our last newsletter was
the redesignation to RAOC Stores Section 3 Armoured Division
Engineer Regiment Workshop.
Rumours of exercises, BE Tests and AWT Classifications
have caused a few to enquire about leave. Our new Accounts
NCO. Lance Corporal Mick Lowrie, after his spell on fire
duties, has probably considered having a more permanent go in
that particular field, in preference to the recent work load of
the Section.
During, this month and the next, we are expecting visits
from the C-in-C BAOR, the GOC 3 Armoured Division and
the Chief Engineer BAOR. These visits will no doubt set us off
to a very hectic 1978.

Farewells go to Sergeants
O'Docherty and Reardon also to Lance
Corporal Berry, who has left us to give the Regimental Depot
a taste of its own medicine whilst attending a long shorthand
writers course, or was it a short longhand writers course. Lance
Corporal Bradley and Private Adams have departed to the
Emerald Isle, Private Bates to Dortmund and the cab of an
MtC, a pleasant change from Hillman Hunters. Private Broad-
bent has moved to the Ordnance Company; give our regards
to Hermann when you see him.
Headquarters RAOC has said a sorrowful goodbye to Frau
Ellen Lange who has retired after thirty one years and eight
months service with the Army. The last twenty years of them
with the Corps. She was presented with a pair of Silver Jubilee
plates from the branch. We also bid farewell to Major Jim
Keating who is looking for his sealegs as he weighs anchor for
the MOD (Navy) and the problems of how many chickens go
into an Army's worth of Supreme (you will all know who to
blame now).
Frau Ellen Lange leaves after nearly thirty two years service.
Mrs Sue Leaver presents the bouquet.
His successor Major David Bramble, supported by a certain
Edward Basset who is undoubtedly the shortest member of the
Headquarters (you can come home now Corporal Quin), has
inherited an office with two DOWOs; most confusing for
units as one has an Irish accent and they both answer the
'phone u DOWO. 1
As an afterthought, has anyone seen our DADOS C
Supplies, Major Ray York lately, if so please inform CRAOC
soonest.
4 ARMOURED DIVISION ORDNANCE
COMPANY
IN the last issue of this GAZETTE we said that 20 Ordnance
Field Park was now a name for the history books. But just to
prove that old soldiers never die and that good things never
really end, 20 Ordnance Field Park raised its head once again
on the 21st January for positively the last time when we had our
Restructuring Parade.
The parade was to officially unite 20 Ordnance Field Park
and the RAOC Stores Platoon of 4 Armoured Division Work-
shop. The salute was taken by Brigadier P. G. Macdonald.
The parade was followed by a curry lunch and an inter-platoon
potted sports competition. This turned out to be more of a
test of endurance than a quiet Saturday afternoon of enjoyable
sport. We started with what looked like a very simple com-
petition, reversing a Land Rover and trailer through four bollards
over a distance of sixty metres. Sergeant Straughier found that
