OFFICERS CLUB DINNER
ROYAL VISIT
COMMEMORATIVE PIECES
THE visit by Her Majesty The Queen to Her Corps at
Bicester on the 16th May 1978, marks the Silver Jubilee
of Her Majesty's Coloneley-in-Chie£ and the Diamond
Jubilee of the grant to the Corps of the title Royal.
To commemorate these events two pieces of Caith-
ness Glass have been commissioned. The first will take
the form of a limited edition of a high quality, mouth
blown, hand finished and polished, bowl which will be
hand decorated by craftsmen to represent the two
anniversaries; the bowl is similar in basic form to the
' Mastermind * bowl presented annually to the winner
of the BBC, TV, ' Mastermind * competition. The second
piece will be a more general issue of an eight inch
diameter fruit bowl in either Amethyst or Clear Glass
which will also be decorated to represent the two
anniversaries.
Full details together with photographs, will be
published in the next edition of THE GAZETTE.
Mr A . A. Humphries CFA, Mr B. Roberts PSA, Colonel E, R,
Edwards, Colonel R. K. Kelsey and Colonel H. G. Brown,
A tailpiece to Operation Burberry was a presentation by the
Chief Fire Officer for Oxfordshire to the Bicester Mess of a rather
unusual memento in the form of this mounted replica of a
country fireman's helmet. No doubt quite a conversation piece in
years to come.

Lieutenant Colonels C. P. Dodworth and J. F. Shircliff seemed
to have enjoyed the event.
