J5eto£ from &broab Headquarters BAOR ON 3rd April as a result of the reallocation of Q Equipment Management functions, Materiel Branch of Ordnance Directorate became Supply Management Branch, This change is a reflection of the LE(A) concept and makes the Branch responsible for the theatre management of some equipments. Major Hugh Heap and Major Mike Steptoe, the latter belongs to the Royal Artil- lery, have now moved from their Q Branch desks to S Man. We also welcome Major David Ingle (Retd) to the Branch. So after thirty three years the ADOS becomes AQMG S Man and Ord I, 2 and 3 become S Man 2a, S Man lb and S Man la respectively. Mrs Babs Shepherd, who also likes Cortinas, has just won a ' Flight for Two' to Edinburgh, but this is small stuff com- pared to that magnificent, superlative, BFBS Rich Lunt Pen (unfilled), she won last month, Mrs Carol Balsdon is now a fully fledged member of the wives club committee and also plays netball for Viersen Ladies. SSM Dennis Balsdon is fully pledged, in the club and plays anything for ladies. Mrs Sheena Print, the Vidal Sassoon of Ayrshire Barracks, has really done our Second-in-Command proud—sets his beret off a treat The rest of the wives don't have to do anything, their husbands also own Cortinas, except for Mrs Dot Hudson, whose husband is a driver and does not know any better, and Kim Kennedy whose husband is posted anyway. Major Gerry G res ham retiring after some forty years active and Retired Officer service, is presented with an inscribed salver by Brigadier Crawley. After forty years combined Army and Retired Officer service Major Gerry Gresham (Retd) left us on 31st March to retire with his wife Pat, to South Africa, He had worked as an RO in Ord 8 (POL) since his Army retirement in 1969. On behalf of the Officers of the Directorate, the DOS presented Gerry with an inscribed salver. Arrivals: Major A. B. Dunn, Major H. G. Heap, Staff Sergeant D. R. Brignall, Sergeant P. Moore and Lance Corporal C. M. Whittington. Departures: Major F. R. Turner, Captain A. R. T. Hazlerigg, WOl V. Hooke, WOl A. E. Aitken, WOl M. Noblett and Sergeant R. Slade. Planning and Work Study Unit BAOR THERE are to be no more comments about the Officer Com- mand ing's car, the attached cartoon shows the reason why, although cartoonist SSM Brian Shepherd enjoyed his exercise with 1 (BR) Corps—he is now a confirmed Cortina lover. Wives turn this month (so, also I believe, do worms!). Mrs Angela Stott does stirring work amongst the cubs and scouts, in fact she is almost Chief Scout for Moenchengladbach— and they're second in the league and still in the European Cup —so that can't be bad. Mrs Carol Alford, after noting the steady degeneration of her Conductor husband, heard that all he needed was a few more brownies, she has now been appointed Tawny Owl— Wro-ong Carol. BAOR Ammunition Inspectorate AFTER the big change over in February, this month had to be quiet. All our new members are going through the settling in process and doing all they can to find out what causes an Ammunition Inspectorate to ' tick-over.' There have already been a few minor changes and with a new hand at the helm no doubt there will be more. However, we are sure that the par for the course will remain as it has always been and there will be no need for any handicap revisions, Captain Tony Jacques, our new ATO West, accompanied by Staff Sergeant Bob Cockburn have been on a trip to Antwerp to open a safe. By all accounts, attempts by the BAOR lock- smith and RE ME failed miserably. Such was the expertise shown by our ATOs in ' cracking i t ' first time that rumours are now rife that certain enquiries have been initiated into their 6 back- ground. The same pair, accompanied by Corporal Mac' Macdonald have also made a four day trip to St Cyr, France, to inspect and collect some SAA left behind by RMA Sand- hurst, after an exercise with their French counterpart. While all this was going on Captain Tony Patrick, our new ATO East, relieved the boredom by getting his wife Beate out for a short vacation. On the sporting scene our only item of note is that our gladiator, Staff Sergeant George Ferguson, was selected to play for RAOC BAOR in the Inter Corps Team hockey champion- ships. RAOC finished runners up to the Royal Artillery and as a result of his performance in that competition he has been selected to represent BAOR against RAF (G) on the first of April. The policy for our regimental training over the next two months has been set out by Major Derek Hellings and pro- grammed by that intrepid CQMS Taff Preece. If all goes -_ 389 — |
