Transcription Our contribution to the winning team was in the persons of
I .utenant Colonel B. M Lickman, Major R. J. Duncan and
v ijor P, J. O'Hare.
With Jim Duncan 'chipping in' so
. ! from off the green, we now know why he is so deadly on
1L nooker table.
Further success followed in the cricket part of the same com-
petition with a win for the CAD/CVD team against COD Chil-
well. Major J. A, Woodliffe was our expert and we look for-
ward to reporting further success in the near future,
VEHICLE DEPOT ASHCHURCH
WE extend a warm welcome to Captain John Parsons the new
Officer IC Vehicle Control Centre. So far he has been " selected '
10 run the Sailing Club from Major Brogden and take over the
footing team from W02 Tarsnane. He has already been
. jcted for the Officers Mess Audit Board prior to posting in—
• ^ore must be something else he can do! !?
The Unit Full Bore Shooting team once more entered for
ihe South West District Skill-at-Arms Meeting. We didn't win
anything, but we also didn't disgrace ourselves, forty first out
of seventy teams wasn't bad! !
Congratulations to A/Staff Sergeant Amos and Sergeant
Laverton on being provisionally selected for promotion, and
to Private and Mrs Maloney on the birth of a son John Francis
Mark,
We welcome Staff Sergeant Scott, Sergeants Boyd and
Mumphris, Corporal Clarke, Lance Corporal Millburn, Privates
Dunlop. Mclver, Bowles, Peach, Jobbins, Docherty, Baron,
Lewandowski, Davis, McMillan, Banghen and Kincaid,
Farewell on posting to Staff Sergeant Smith, Corporals Hunt
and Johnson and Lance Corporal Harrison.
Congratulations to Private Watson on his marriage to
Pauline.
VEHICLE DEPOT LUDGERSHALL
WE recently held Exercise Freshwater and the aim was to
navigate the Oxford Canal using Mark IV assault boats and
i
vas designed to provide the opportunity of practising living
. nd working in an environment quite different from normal
army requirements. A good time was had by all and the small
party led by Captain Tony Phillips was very well received by
the civilian population.
The recent Corps shoot was however, slightly disappoint-
ing- All the members of the team qualified for the bronze
medal. Pride of place must go to Staff Sergeant Alec Mc-
Grattan who qualified for a medal in SMG, Pistol and SLR.
Major David Humphrey on his first Corps shoot qualified for
a bronze in the pistol and was clearly pleased with his achieve-
pTent.
Arrivals and departures over the last month have been
many and we welcome Privates Brodrick and Moore from the
Depot and Staff Sergeant McNulty from 50 Ordnance Support
Battalion. Postings out are Sergeant Copland and Privates
Daltan, Marshall and Rogers.
Central Ammunition Depot Kineton
AIR CHIEF MARSHAL, Sir Ruthven
Wade, the Chief of Personnel and Logis-
tics, visited the Unit on 21st April. The
Air Chief Marshal, at a formal Unit
parade, presented Corporal R. B.
Wetherill with the Long Service and Good
Conduct Medal.
On 10th May we welcomed the GOC
West Midland District, Major General
Downward, for the Annual Unit Report.

B. Baker with the General Officer Commanding (Northern Ire-
land) Commendation awarded for bravery during his recent tour
Northern Ireland. He also presented Long Service and Good
L .induct Medals to W02 L. Craft, W02 C. Rowlands, ACC,
and Sergeant J. Henderson.
Our. warm congratulations to those honoured with these
awards.
On the sporting side Kineton has had an energetic month.
An Inter-Company Sports Day was held on 6th May during
which members from the Unit's Companies competed against
each other for the honours. There were some magnificent wins
in spite of a strong headwind and the afternoon resulted in a win
^ r 522 Company Royal Pioneer Corps, with 'A' Company
\ rung second. Prizes were very kindly presented by Mrs
r*-. A. Berresford.
The Rugby team finished the season well by winning the
Bruce Plate, fought for by Units within RAOC throughout the
^K.. The team was captained by W02 S. M. Matakitoga.

Our Cricket team has started the season well by winning
their match in the first round of the DGOS Cup against Bicester
by six wickets. Corporal Salway achieved a magnificent half
century and Sergeant Holmes and Corporal Smith claimed six
wickets between them. Let us hope that our team can main-
tain this good form.
The Officers Mess team also started their season well by
winning the Preliminary Round of the Base Organisation Cricket
Competition against ChilweU by thirty six runs. Two outstand-
ing players of the match were Major Steve Roach who scored
fifty four runs not out and Major Alan Swindley who took four
wickets for eleven.
To complete the energetic side of life at Kineton we have
also been very active in Adventure Training. Six members of
'A' Company have just returned from a two week Adventure
Training exercise, Surf Canoeing in North Devon and Cornwall.
W02 Young led the group, consisting of Sergeant Phiipott,
Corporals Anderson, Collett and Stewart, Lance Corporal King
and Private Little. W02 Young must be congratulated on his
excellent efforts in winning five trophies in the Army Canoe
Surf Canoeing Championships during the exercise.
Congratulations are also in order for Staff Sergeant and
Mrs Lee on the birth of their daughter Wendy Caroline, and
