STORES PLATOON 71 AIRCRAFT
WORKSHOP
OUR sportsmen have continued to shine in their various
activities. Private Paddy O'Keefe managed to knock in no
ioss than five gGals in the Units 11-1 victory over Head-
quarters Battery 39 Medium Regiment RA. Paddy was last
st^en thumbing through the telephone directory and a glance
over
his shoulder revealed that he was looking through

Paddy O'Keefe and Lance Corporal Ivan Sangster were
the platoon entrants in the Corps BAOR Table Tennis Cham-
pionship in Bielefeld and although neither managed to reach
the second round, valuable competitive experience was gained,
Corporal Dave Kelly began his own sporting season when
'•'y took part in the 4 Division Individual Golf Championship.
\ ^ e is also a member of the Corps team to play RAPC.
Lance Corporal Dave Middleton and Private 'Adge *
Bowser have each attained a place in the Unit Swimming team
and will shortly be off to Berlin to participate in a swimming
gala. Adge's season will virtually end there as he shortly
leaves us for a four month detachment in Northern Ireland.
Sailing has not escaped our attention. Sergeant Frank
O'Brien and Private Pete Mundy have recently returned from
Exercise Danish Blue II in Denmark. The following note was
copied from Frank's diary: Steered due east, dinghy sailed due

A games evening against 20 Ordnance Field Park was the
-»vial highlight of the month and although the only event
which went to the Platoon was the beer race, a very enjoy-
able evening was had by all. For being second, we were
presented with a handsome trophy.
HEADQUARTERS
MAJOR WES THOMAS, SQMS Eric Miles and Private Paul
Ranger took part in an exercise in the Ahlen area. We are
informed that in spite of a lot of rain and disagreements with
pigs and cows they did help to win the war. Corporal Alan
Brown also got wet taking part in the RAOC Offshore Sailing
Regatta at Kiel. After being caught in a force seven gale he
is considering sticking to cross channel ferries in future.
SSM Brian God den has been busy with his Inspection Pro-
gramme and jet setting to England from time to time on leave.
SSM Bob Martin has, as usual, kept the Headquarters ticking
over smoothly as well as running a Jubilee Parade ticket ad-
visory bureau!
Congratulations are in order for Sergeants Henry Porter
and Ken Franklin on their elevation to senior rank.
Departures: Lieutenant Colonel Graham Nichols, Sergeants
Henry Porter and Ken Franklin.
Arrivals: Lieutenant Colonel Peter Dodworth, Corporals
Ken Black and Mick East.
80 SUPPLY DEPOT
DESPITE its small military strength the Depot personnel have
continued to take an active part in sporting activities. Sergeant
Singh the Chief Clerk, disappointed at the lack of success for
the Station Hockey team, produced his annual trophy for the
OCs Office by winning the plate competition in the RAOC
BAOR Table Tennis Competition. W02 Hext the Depot Super-
intendent and Sergeant Endean the Master Butcher disappeared
for a few days to take part in the RAOC Golf Meeting and the
latter has already donned his cricket flannels in his new role
of wicket keeper for the Hannover Station Eleven. Our Tech-
nical Clerk, Staff Sergeant Hones, newly arrived from Hong
Kong, soon made his presence felt and was selected for the
RAOC BAOR Soccer team.
Congratulations to Sergeant and Mrs Singh on the birth
of a daughter and we all hope that Mrs Singh soon recovers
from the serious illness which followed the birth.
There was good news for Staff Sergeant Jones and Lance
Corporal Fleck on achieving substantive promotion and Lance
Corporal Bishop on promotion to Acting Corporal.
Departures during the period were Major B. J. Moore and
Staff Sergeant Squire to UK and Lance Corporal Bush to
civilian life. Arrivals were Major J, G. Daykin, Staff Sergeant
Jones and Lance Corporal Montgomery.
