Mention must be made of our attached volunteer in-
ductors—Major Bob Lawton DADOS 19 Brigade, Major
Aiaistcr Campbell BEME 19 Brigade and Staff Sergeant Mike
Bender MOD, all of whom provided expert guidance in climb-
ing and sailing.
On 11th June a very successful Wives club childrens jubilee
party was held in the Barracks, the funds had been raised by
the Wives Club who had held a sponsored skip-in to raise cash,
congratulations on the success of the event, meanwhile^ the
husbands were being exercised three times a week in readiness
for the next FTF tests—there is a noticeable improvement in
t* ••••". running capabilities of all concerned — perhaps Lance
Corporal ' T u b y ' Davis will finally achieve a pass!
The Unit once again took to the field on 14th June for a
three day deployment exercise where all the new members were
initiated into the mysteries of cross country night moves and
camouflage techniques. The recce party needless to say, was
popular when it routed the Ordnance Field Park on a night
move under an impassable obstacle, a low bridge—a deliberate
mistake? However, it was good for training as it did prove all
could actually read maps and managed to reach their objectives.
As I close these notes from the last OFP in the UK we
arc preparing for the Annual RAOC Association get together in
th-j form of a cheese and wine party, let's hope the weather and
the wine hold out!

6 FIELD FORCE ORDNANCE
COMPANY
SINCE our return from a fortnight of blazing sunshine in the
Isle of Man it has hardly stopped raining, as no doubt every-
one has noticed, though fortunately the sun shone, albeit
weakly, far the two days of the Travers Clarke Athletics
competition when the Unit's athletes did rather well.
Lance Corporal Freddie Fox ran away ' literally' in the
5000 metres, he was so far ahead of the next man that he
could have stopped half way for a NAAFI break and still

The 2nd of June saw most of the
j|
RAOC personnel of the Headquarters at
Aldershot Military Stadium for the Annual
Travers Clarke Athletics Meeting, Notable achievements were
Sergeant Bob Boughen who held his 800 metres title and who
also won the 1500 metres and Corporal Gary Sumner on coming
second in the long jump. Well done to both of them.
On the 17th June, the GOC South East District, Lieuten-
ant General Sir Anthony Farrar-Hockley, one time Com-
mander of our predecessor 16 Parachute Brigade, visited the
Headquarters.
From the 20th to 24th June, Lance Corporals Brian Rees,
'Nek Egan and Steve Kemp, Privates Ian McArthy and Steve
Connolly were in the Brecon area of Wales participating in a
forward Air Controller Exercise, Seemingly it was not all
work and no play as the baby of the group, Private Steve
Connolly was shown around the local night spots by Lance
Corporal Romeo Kimp. Young Steve cannot wait for his next
trip there!
The Staff Captain 'A,* Captain Ian Chapman, the Para-
chute Regiment, kindly organised a sea fishing trip on the 23rd
June on which went Staff Sergeant George Willerton, Sergeant
Pete Stead, Lance Corporal Cyril Wright, Corporal Dave Le
P;-.-j« and Lance Corporal Steve Slater. There were no note-
abi^ catches but plenty of talk of big ones that got away.
However, the weather was perfect and a nice break away from
the office was had by all. Our photograph shows the party
passing the Needles Lighthouse.
