This month we feature the Vehicle Sub-Depot who pro-

the last few months except perhaps the evacuation of our
splendid new offices before they fell about our ears. We have
been busy, of course, but that is normal. The OC T Captain
Bolt, having almost completed two years in the Province is
getting posting happy and looking forward to the delights of
Donnington.
Your scribe in search of copy delegated his
responsibility to the Vehicle Sub-Depot poet and this is what he
came up with—so pin back yer lug "oles: —

HEADQUARTERS
RAOC
HOT NEWS from us this month; our
l° n S awaited and almost abandoned
' summer * was suddenly upon us, tem-
perature shot up beyond the twenty mark,
an<
^ e v e n *^ e office inhabited by our
Chronicler became so warm that that
worthy or (unworthy as the case may
be) veteran of countless POL and Compo
campaigns, found it necessary to remove
at least one layer of his complement of
jerseys heavy wool.
It was during this hot snap that the more dauntless of our
contenders for the passing of the BE test put in their attack on
the running track. We would not be so indiscreet as to men-
tion those who failed but we have documentary evidence which
shows Lieutenant Colonel O'Dea (CRAOC) age forty, and
WO I Brunt (FTOWO) age thirty six, passed—eleven minutes
fifty three seconds. Whilst we have no intention of entering
them in v Super Stars' we think it only decent to herald them
as the first home of our office contingent. Master Darrell
O'Dea age ten decided to go with his dad, and having shot
round the course, waited patiently at the finish ' kicking his
heels.'
Sergeant Harry (Big Harry) Hill interrupted his AF G837A
purge campaign to dash off to lend a hand at a Cadet Camp;
heaven help him if they run out of petrol half way up the
Cairngorms.
We congratulate Lieutenant Colonel G. B. Berragan,
AQMG, Headquarters Northern Ireland on his selection for
promotion-
This month we say farewell to Major Malcolm Hill and
family and Major Peter Deamer our OIC Barrack Services
(East). We wish them all well, and at the same time say wel-
come to Major McConville who takes the SO2 Materiel seat
and Captain Len Davis taking over Barrack Services East.
Other arrivals are Staff Sergeant Mick Baron, Sergeant
Colin Dewsbury, Corporals Starrs and Lovick and Lance
Corporal Burnett, and Staff Sergeant Dennis Nolan and Lance
Corporal Lawrence have left us.
8 INFANTRY
BRIGADE
ONCE AGAIN we are putting pen to paper, to keep old
veterans of 8 Brigade informed oE what is happening in the
sweat shop. It is now the time of year when everybody is
walking round with their stomachs in and tissues stuffed up
their sleeves, looking fit for their BE tests. We heard a rumour
that our Superintendent Clerk W 2 Tony Mo reman went to
the QM's for a new pair of feet, as he left the skin of his last
pair on the square.
In Registry our newly promoted Keith Cammack, is letting
promotion go to his head, we think putting KCRAOC on his mug
is going too far.
AG Branch and Ordnance and EME Services are ticking
over nicely, as our Chief Clerk John Gallagher is counting the
days before his posting order comes in and Corporal Jerry
Turn bull, A Clerk, is counting his money.
We congratulate Lance Corporals Keith Cammack and
John Allan on their recent promotions, and sadly say farewell
to our Brigade Ordnance Officer Captain Peter Foxton, who
has gone to Regimental Depot also Lance Corporal John Allan
who has left the shores of Ireland to go to sunny Cyprus. We
welcome our new Brigade Ordnance Officer Captain Tony Dalby-
Welsh and we hope he enjoys his* tour with us,
THE VEHICLE SUB-DEPOT PIGGIES
Of Rovers and Ferrets we've plenty
Of Saracens we've got quite a lot
But our favourite beasts are our piggies
New; they are definitely not I
4
Our Q ' took a piggy to Long Kesh
He thought he would make it intact
*Not So' thought the pig—with a mind of its own
'Our Q' brought the steering wheel back.
Piggies are tougher than Rovers
Dave and Brendan argued the fact
Brendan's Piggy won without question
The Sales Park got Dave's Rover back.
Some of our piggies see Bessbrook
And some of our piggies Omagh
But the paint jobs they give them in Andersonstown
Beat any of ours—by far.
Now this little piggy went to Belfast
And this little piggy to D e n y
But this little piggy went squeak, squeak all the way
So we're sending it back—on the ferry,
home.
HEADQUARTERS
39 INFANTRY
BRIGADE
THIS month we are treating all our readers to a photograph of
the staff of Headquarters 39 Infantry Brigade. Of those in the
picture only the BOWO WOl Paddy Leonard and Sergeant Frank
Greaney can remember the last picture some two and a half
years ago. If s time to make amends!
We offer our congratulations to Corporal Phil Congdon
on his acting promotion and Corporal Bernie Andrews on. his
substantive promotion. Also congratulations to Lance Corporals
Mick Binks and Bert Johns on successfully passing their Bl
courses. Mick Binks has started a rumour that he came top of
his course. Unfortunately, we cannot extend our congratulations
to the RAOC members of our Intelligence Section putting team.
They are in two leagues on the local garrison and are at the
time of writing bottom of both! On the more energetic scene
a large percentage of RAOC staff clerks helped the Head-
quarters Troop of the Signals Squadron to win the athletics
cup for the third successive year.
We feel that special mention should be made of Sergeant
Frank Rogers the Squadron FATSO Sergeant, He says that he
beavers away in his store, always on call, always ready, always
willing, yet he says he seems to have been forgotten. How
anyone can be on the promotion roll and get a posting to Hong
Kong in one tour and say he's been forgotten!!
ORDNANCE
DEPOT
TWO Long Service and Good Conduct Medals were presented
by the Commanding Officer recently to Sergeant M. Kempster
and Corporal R. Hather RPC. Our congratulations go to both
recipients.
