THE RETIREMENT OF
COLONEL J; W\ HANLON
The Lady' Mayor of Eastbourne talks to the marchers.
So far over £1,200 has been raised and we wish to thank all
those individuals, Officers and Sergeants Messes in the Corps
who have donated so very generously to this cause. Despite
a very early morning start, a very hot day and a long march
one hundred and twenty four of those who started completed
the course on time—a tremendous effort by all concerned.
COLONEL JACK HANLON retires this month after thirty six
years service. He was commissioned into the Royal Artillery
during the war and gained his pilot's wings with the Gunners
before transferring as a regular officer to RAOC in 1952.
Since joining the Corps he has held a variety of depot and
staff appointments at home and overseas and served with the
Army Air Corps in BAOR as DADOS Air. He was promoted
to Lieutenant Colonel in 1965 and subsequently held a number
of ADP appointments, including that of Installation Manager
at Chilwell. Jack will be well remembered by his friends for
the way he performed the difficult job of co-ordinating various
activities in BAOR to enable the ICP to be set u p in 1973.
He was then promoted to Colonel and took u p his last ap-
pointment which has been Director of the Army Cataloguing
Authority based at Woolwich.
Our best wishes go to him and to his wife Beryl, and we
know that their many friends in the Corps will wish them both
a long and happy retirement
