Transcription SWIMMING
THE
CHAMPIONSHIPS
THE combined individual/team championships were held in
the Aldershot Military Baths on 15th September. The meeting
again followed the format revised in 1973 when many of the
distances to be swum were reduced in an endeavour to in-
crease participation. It was very gratifying this year to see
ninety three individual entrants and seven teams participating—
the highest number since the reorganisation. More encouraging
still standards were much improved and five championship
records were broken,
In the Unit competition championship honours were taken
by CAD Kineton in their first entry for many years. CVD
Ashchurch were a close second illustrating yet again that the
new format of Corps Championships is such that minor units
have an excellent chance of winning.

GOLF
SOCIETY
ATJTXJMN
MEETING
THE Autumn Meeting of the Golf Society was held at High
Post Golf Club on 15th and 16th September.
Some twenty eight golfers played in the meeting, enhanced
by the addition of eight ladies in the mixed foursome com-
petition on the Friday afternoon.
On Thursday the weather was gloriously warm and sunny
and the * Jeans Cup' (Stableford) and the ' Bogey Cup * were
won by Captain Tony Taylor and Major David Eccles.
Although the weather was not quite so good on Friday
some good golf was played. Major Bob Dickenson won the
* Deepcut Trophy* (Scratch) on a count back from Major Ron
Rush who won the ' Richards Cup * (handicap).
The main handicap trophy for consistently steady golf
over three rounds, the 'Autumn Bowl,' went to Lieutenant
Colonel Mike Watts. {We are pleased to learn that since the
meeting he has twice had his handicap reduced).
In the Open Foursomes Major Tom Scaife and Sergeant
Paul Ladley triumphed but it was the runners up who deserve
particular encouragement.
Apprentice Privates Storey and
Buchanan were very welcome at the meeting and we hope they
continue their interest for many years. Apprentice Private
Storey also won the Brownlee Putter awarded to the best Soldier.
The Bush Cups have, for three years, been absent from the
Montgomery household but yet again will bear the engraving
Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs Montgomery. Well done Monty
and Mary.
