< eral times on the exercise, including Brigadier Perkins, Com-
r aider 6 Brigade, Brigadier MacDonald DDOS and Colonel
,; jnsbotham, Colonel AQ 4 Division, who were much im-
p-ossed with the tactical and defensive skills of 6 Ordnance
Field Park. We were very lucky weatherwise, the exercise was
enjoyed by everyone except the enemy.

HEADQUARTERS
PAST CRAOCs and officers of this Headquarters will un-
doubtedly be saddened to learn of the closure of the Celle
Station Officers Mess, We are told that the closure is in the
interest of economy!? However, our present members are now
to be deprived of a flourishing friendly social amenity. Life
will never be quite the same again,
To continue on a happier note our DADOS (Materiel)
Major Wes Thomas has hung up his pads and returned to the
fold having over the season, diligently captained the RAOC
BAOR cricket team.
Our two budding Paddy Hopkirk's Corporals Ken Black
and Alan Brown entered their first rally only to realise too late
that the speed of map marking is more important than achieving
0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
Our friendly local exterminator in the guise of DADOS
(Combat Supplies) Major Leslie Marsham having cleared his
immediate neighbourhood of wild life excelled himself by en-
suring the demise of the CRAOCs pet hedgehog.
79 SUPPLY DEPOT
WE take this opportunity of welcoming Major Michael Cutchey
and his wife Pauline to the Depot and wish them a very happy
tour.
The present climate is one of leave, courses and preparations
for the festive season which is only a few months off, plus of
course the CS1T.
Sergeant Brian Taylor our Master Butcher cum potential
storeman is away on his Bl Storeman's course and Corporal
Tom Beaton, the other Butcher cum potential Storeman is
awaiting the start of his Storeman's course at the beginning of
October. We hope they do well.
In the departments we have the Depot Superintendent W02
Jim Grant and Corporals Mick Naylor, Lionel Gosling and
Pete Hal I am issuing rations on a grand scale.
Up at the Bakery there are the Master Baker, Staff Sergeant
John Cleary, and Sergeant Tom McGurk, awaiting the Redun-
dancy Board results.
The POL Section is staffed by Sergeant Stan Jenkinson and
Corporal Charlie Cannings.
Someone asked if Corporal
Cannings has just arrived in the Depot as most of his time is
spent in hospital with his leg in plaster. We are glad to say
he has now almost recovered but is still not fit for duties!
Last but not least the Headquarters is staffed by Sergeant
Harry Carr as Chief Clerk and Staff Sergeant Tony Mclntyre,
our very own CQMS, who still thinks stores are for storing
and not issuing.
Combat Supplies Battalion
Corps Troops Central
BACK in August, 44 Company ran an open day which seems
to have gone off as a cross between It's a Knockout and a
School of Ammunition explosive demonstration. Having just
avoided a downpour, the afternoon was very successful with
the celebration of the OC's selection for promotion to Lieutenant
Colonel and the aforementioned explosive demonstration which
t'aphically pointed out the dangers of mistaking cordtex for
Vr ashing line. (Anyone wishing to purchase trousers with the
lops neatly blown ofl is asked to contact the PRI Officer).
The remainder of the Battalion is moving gradually towards
Exercise Autumn Sales where what was supposed to be an
administrative job has turned out to be an exercise in its own
right. Captain Tom Greenwood, the Administration Officer
of 43 Company, realising the problems this could cause has some-
how managed to get a Canadian Officer to take over his job
and we welcome Captain Gary Barltrop to the Battalion.
Our men in Nieheim have added a variation to Phase II
•: Exercise Active Edge and substituted the Pipes and Drums of
•1.51st Highland Division instead of deploying. We can assure
our readers that this is a great improvement as it resulted in
everybody being invited * down town' by the locals for a bit
of right arm exercise.
HEADQUARTERS
WE would like to welcome to Bielefeld Sergeant Dennis (Skippy)
May of the RAAOC. He is here for four months attachment
in Exercise Long Look. On arrival in the Headquarters he
crawled into the office looking somewhat dishevelled after spend-
ing two or more days flying. However, after a settling in
period he was then whisked around the Corps area by Major
Carpenter and WOl Irwin and shown around some of our
dependent units, once again arriving back in the office on his
chin strap.
He has even volunteered to accompany the Headquarters
on their twice weekly run over the Teutoberger Wald. He said
on his return from the first run "That he has never seen so
many hills in one afternoon and at the same time ran over
every one, even taking the title of Pathfinder over from Staff
Sergeant Roger Shepherd."
Private Pawsey has just returned to us from attending a
basic mountaineering course in Norway. Corporal Isaac has
also just recently returned after spending three weeks attach-
ment to the 2nd Light Infantry on exercise in France.
We would like to welcome Corporal Potts and Lance
Corporal Pickersgill—hope they enjoy their stay with us and
