Transcription CORPS SKI-IN G
}.' XERCISE KNEES BEND, Despite the financial restrictions
imposed during the year, Exercise Knees Bend once again got
underway in good style, albeit at a greater cost to all in-
dividuals taking part.
Once again the exercise was based on the Nethy Bridge
Hotel Annexe, but because of the lack of snow in the Cairn-
gorms, most courses were transported to ' The Lecht * ski
slopes where ideal conditions were available for beginners.
All four courses were fully booked and in all some one
hundred RAOC Soldiers, thirty four Apprentices and thirty six
WRACs were able to take part.
The last phase of Knees Bend was for thirty four Young
Apprentices to have the opportunity to come up to the ski hut
and to leam the intricacies of Alpine Ski-ing for a week.
Although the snow conditions were far from ideal, it was
evident that Exercise Knees Bend had been a complete success
in spite of the increased cost to individuals. Our sincere thanks
go to all Permanent Staff headed by the OC Hut, Lieutenant
Kevin Marshall who helped to make it both enjoyable and
challenging,

Nethy Bridge Hotel and we were delighted our Representative
Colonel Commandant, Major General Stanyer, was able to come
along and present our prizes, amongst the guests were Lieutenant
Colonel and Mrs Connolly, CRAOC Scotland without whose
assistance our Exercise would have been quite impossible.
Major General Stanyer was also able to present for the
first time Corps Colours for ski-ing to these individuals who
had represented the Corps in the Army and Joint Service
Championship,
The Exercise was a great success and our improved per-
formance in the Championships shows that the courses run
to teach RAOC soldiers basic ski-ing is beginning to produce
a higher standard in the Corps,
Our whole hearted thanks go to the OC Ski Hut Lieutenant
Simon Perry and his staff for their hard work and enthusiasm.
in making the Exercise so successful.
