Transcription Privates Greene and Bartzch completed the course one hundred
.id twenty five miles on the Sunday evening, close to collapse
:•> their famous y bathtub, 1 which half of Wiltshire, Berkshire,
Hertfordshire, Surrey, Middlesex and Greater London had come-
to hear about from the foghorn-like protests of Private Greene.
Joking apart, both he and Bartzch can be justly proud of what
they achieved, as can all the other participants, and, of course,
the ever-faithful back-up teams. Sergeant Crawford and Private
Johnson finished on the Monday morning afler just failing to
meet the Sunday evening tide, and there ended the experience of
a lifetime—untiL next year!
We welcome Privates Swain and Harbron and Second
lieutenant Martin Hardy from Sandhurst.
Congratulations to Lance Corporal Gary Moore and
Corporal Pete Baker on their Bi and to Private Jimmy Greaves
on his marriage to Carol. Best wishes to them both.

Central Ordnance Depot Donnington
WE were very pleased to start the month with a visit from the
Director General and Mrs Brown. After preliminary briefings
General Brown had a whistle-stop tour of the depot and we
were especially pleased to be able to show him our new Central
Processing Building (Building B5) which has just seen the light
of day.

EVENTS this month were overshadowed.

by the sudden death of Mr Bill Mann,
ASA at Kineton. He was a very con-
scientious and popular man who will be
sorely missed- We extend our deepest
sympathies to his wife Elsie, and her
children. An obituary appears elsewhere
in this journal.
We are happy to report that Lieu-
tenant Colonel Tony Beaumont the CRAOC has almost com-
pletely recovered from his illness and by the time you read this
should be back in harness.
The S02 C Sups, Major Stuart Craven recently ran Exercise
Southern Comfort for 52 Company near Blackdown. A gruelling
forty eight hours of road movement, convoy drills, ambush drills
and fieldcraft put the unit through its paces. A realistic enemy
•»vas provided by Major Mike Pether and 41 RP Company. It
proved a worthwhile exercise in which many valuable lessons
were learnt,
Last month Regional Depot Hereford was visited by the
Branch Line Society, a group of railway enthusiasts. They spent
an enjoyable morning looking over the Depot's internal rail-
way system and afterwards handed the OC Major Bruce Boulton
a cheque for £60 for the Army Benevolent Fund.
The Army Fire Brigade at Donnington did well in the
E980 UK. Army Fire Brigades competition. In the breathing
apparatus competition AFB Donnington were awarded first
place with a time of 24.4 seconds, seventeen seconds ahead of
their nearest rival In the Jack Broadhurst Trophy one man
hydrant drill competition Fireman J. Perry of Donnington came
second.
We were sorry to lose our POL clerk Mrs Joyce Stubbs
this month to the Recruiting and Liaison Staff but welcome in
her place Mr Tom Morgan.
Lieutenant Colonel Major explaining a function of the Central
Processing Building to the DCOS.
Looking on are Brigadier
Barratt and Colonel Parker.
Behind the scenes, in Regimental Wing people have been
beavering away at forthcoming events such as the Donnington
raft race, the St Barbara's Day Parade and various shadow
platoon exercises.
We were pleased to see the return of Lieutenant Iain
Cassidy, back from Norway, He has been joined this month by
Second Lieutenant John Bednall who is quickly learning the
mystical art of being a training officer. He takes the place of
Lieutenant Colin Nisbet who has left for civilian life.
On the sports field the unit has met with mixed success,
In the Hill Cup semi-final the rugby team ran out seventeen nil
losers to Blackdown in a very exciting match. Since then they
have played two other matches, winning convincingly thirty nil
and twenty two nil against 29 Regiment RCT and 52 Company
RAOC (V) respectively. The soccer team have played but they
are keeping very quiet about it. Very soon all the sports pitches
will come down to make way for athletic tracks and cricket
pitches but with snow lying thick on the Wrekin I think it is a
little too soon to welcome the halcyon days of summer.
Finally we all extend warm congratulations to Sergeant
Martin on his promotion. Welcome RQMS Donnery back from
Zimbabwe and Private Cooper into the Orderly Room. We say
farewell to the Sergeants Gill who are off to BAOR.
