Transcription Warrant Officers Class 1 Paddy Quinn is warmly con-
gratulated on his promotion and we regret his necessary
departure to Ashchurch. We await his relief with interest.
Sergeant Smith is welcomed to the unit whilst Staff Sergeant
David Hogg has settled in to the Technical Administration mad-
house. Sergeant Pat Pierce had cut his teeth on some unit in
Cyprus before taking over from Sergeant Ralph Jackson in a
four hour flurry of Orderly Room paper.
By July we will have freed Tewkesbury for the umpteenth
lime and processed at carnivals in Tidworth and Andover.
Lance Corporal James Nuttall and Private Tim Emmott will
have mastered H and T rescues by canoe and Captain David
Paterson and party will have pedalled their way round Dorset,
Somerset, Avon and Wiltshire in a long weekend.
One event recently was undoubtedly the arrival of our
very own Subaltern in the shape of Lieutenant Mike Edwards.
Since then he has moved around with a baffled look on his
face as everyone is anxious to educate our young officer. We
hope he enjoys, his tour here.
Those who pass the depot will have noticed that William the
Conqueror and Horatius the Centurion tanks have been joined
by Joseph the Saladin. The DGOS very kindly came along for
the unveiling ceremony and provided a bottle of champagne to
be drunk by all who had helped in preparing Joseph for his
role.
Petroleum Centre
IN the Depot it's been all change. Recently
Corporal Neil Willis has moved to the
empire of empty cans whilst Corporal
Ray Burgess plus Private Nick Avery
tackle the Tank Farm. Private Luke
Ash ton has recently taken over decanting
from Private Ian Farnie who is sharpen-
ing his pencils for a Bl course.
Our football team ended the season
as the strongest team in the league,
Sergeant Charlie Cannings has gone on record as saying there
is a little room for improvement next season.
Brigadier Ridings the Director of Army Pioneer Labour
visited the Depot and had a chat with each member of our
hard working pioneer team. Meanwhile, having worn the road
system down with BFT training we are now trying other
activities: the Sharp Shooters have joined Major Pinchers small
bore shooting team, whilst others are becoming water orientated
with Corporal Keith Rayner* those keen on marching have
joined Major Medleys hobblers and are training for the
Chichester March.
However, volleyball is the in sport at the moment, with
Sharkeys Smurfs and Moulds Men of Grit joint favourites for
the unit volleyball cup. Ladbrookes (OC Depot) giving odds
of two to one.
Our congratulations to Sergeant Charlie Co fills on sub-
stantive promotion to that rank. We also congratulate Sergeants
Andy Sharkey and Dave Mould on selection for promotion to
Staff Sergeant, We also raise a glass to an absent friend WOZ
Mick Franks our man in Belize, congratulations you can. stop
acting soon and become substantive. We welcome to the unit
Corporal Mick Bishop our new man in the Orderly Room also
