Transcription General W, R. Taylor, COS Headquarters BAOR who presented
him with the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
Welcome back to Sergeant Chris Pattinson of Sup (Org,
Ops and Trg) who has returned from a month's leave in Cyprus
(some people have all the luck) equipped with oranges, lemons
and the inevitable glowing sun lan. However, the harassments
and pressures of Org, Ops and Trg will soon bring them back
down to earth.
Comings and goings have been few this month. We wel-
come in Major Howard Killin (Retd) who moves in to the
R03 post in Sup (Manpower and Establishments), and say fare-
well to Staff Sergeant Bob Barr who has left Sup (Org, Ops and
Trg) for DSM(A) Bicester.
PS. Congratulations to WOl lan Birchall of the C-in-Cs office
who we have just heard has been appointed to Conductor.
Management Services Unit BAOR
THIS month has seen a never ending procession of Unit Teams
lo Berlin. The first were SSMs Jim Wood and John Dawson;
John had visions of a long trip to Siberia when a Russian Officer
beckoned him to question a minor irregularity on his documents.
However, he won through and is now back with us.
We welcome SQMS Pete Yearsley and Kelly Adamson who
have joined us from UK. Kelly had no sooner caught his
breath before he was on the train to Berlin to join SSMs Clive
Kingston and Dave Down already there.
SSM Terry Golding and SQMS ' Tiki * Tikaram have just
returned from Berlin, Terry is muttering words to the effect
that he has reached the age where life just begins; one wonders
if the BFT test could have anything to do with his sentiments.
Tiki has completed his six months probation as a WSO and is
already checking his pay statement.
Team three (mainly from M T )
winning the t u g - o f - w a r .
fraternity. Cricket, golf, athletics and tug-of-war seem to be
the main attraction for most.
Our report is marred by the news that Corporal Joe Paris
was seriously injured in a road accident whilst on leave in the
UK, He is at present in hospital in Oxford and we wish him
a speedy recovery.
One of the high points of the month was the annual Unit
Athletics Meeting. Organised by Captain Burrow and his willing
officials, it took place on a very warm afternoon. As many
competitors as possible were dragged out from the depths of
the Bruggen forest For those competing it was a little hotter
than usual. However a few new * stars* emerged in the form
of Staff Sergeant Dave Holvey (five thousand metres winner),
Private Lang (one hundred metres winner), Corporal Rigby
(one thousand five hundred metres winner) and Staff Sergeant
Joe Hoareau with Sergeants Pete Salt, Mick Gavaghan and
Wally Parker in the four by one hundred metres relay. SASO
department won the Inter-Departmental cup. GSG/DHQ the
tug-of-war competition and SASO, the assault course race.
As already mentioned tug-of-war are still pulling themselves
around BAOR. In recent Rhine Area League 'Pulls' they
recorded a second and two thirds. To top their season to date,
they recently won the Rhine Area tug-of-war championship.
Their obvious hard training and possibly a few propositions
from rhe chief coach (RSM Chandler) paid off. Congratulations

Golden Bowler.
Our ten pin bowler, SSM Jim McLarty seems to have hit
form and has won the RAOC individual high game, high series
and the doubles in the RAOC BAOR Championships, the accom-
panying photograph shows him with his trophies. Sergeant
Frank Voice has also achieved success in winning the RAOC
Individual Class C Small Bore Target Rifle Shoot with a score
of three hundred and eighty one out of a possible four hundred.
SQMS John Last is preparing to go off to Antwerp to in-
struct a canoeing course; with the restrictions on travel we do
not know whether he will run there or paddle.
SSMs Dave Haugh and Pete Bath have left us for Donning-
ton and Bicester respectively; we wish them well for the future,

THE last month has passed rather quietly for Bracht. The
major winter sporting activities have faded into non-activity.
The hallowed rugby pitch is now used for that good old
English sport of cricket, much to the disgust of the rugby

the overall winning team to W 2 Knell after the 3 BAD
Athletics Meeting,
