B ' COMPANY.
During Benghazi's absence in Berlin for the
Freedom of Spandau the College inter-Company athletics took
place and ' B ' Company still managed to retain the Athletics
Cup for another year. This competition followed on from our
Company inter-Platoon meeting in which Balaclava came out
winners. Special mention must be made of Brunei's efforts, as,
with only eight Apprentices, they still managed to compete in
all the events, including the tug-of-war.
Immediately after the athletics, ' B * Company departed for
College Summer Camp at Penally, Tenby, The weather was not
as good as previous years but, nevertheless, this year's Camp
lived up to the high standard we have become used to. Apart
from the three day exercise in the Frescellies* activities were
based on adventurous pursuits rather than the military ones.
They included parascending, canoeing, swimming, sailing, abseil-
ing, fishing and visits to places of interest around the Tenby
area.
Congratulations are in order for Lieutenant Roy Dempster
on the announcement of his marriage on the 8th August 1981
to Sergeant John Woodcock on passing his EPC(A), and to
CSM John Robertson on his selection to RSM in September.
Well done!
Our new Recruit Platoon formed up as Bruneval Platoon
and Balaclava, Brunei and Berlin departed for Wales for their
External Leadership Training Camp. Reports of which will be
published next month.
Burma Platoon have just returned from Ardingly where
they were involved in the South of England Show. A report with
photographs will appear next month.
We welcome Captain Tochi Marwaha, Lieutenant Trevor
Piper and Sergeant John Kreft into * B ' Company and we wish
them enjoyable tours.

TRAINING
COMPANY
OUR congratulations go to the shooting team (which was drawn
out of a hat at District) who won the GOCs Match at the recent
SEDSAM. Notable personalities were CSM Dusty Miller and
Corporal Pete Marson. Under the watchful eye of CSM Evans,
the Training Centre Shooting Team is now busily preparing itself
for RASAM and hope to follow up the successes of the team
n SEDSAM which included Second Lieutenant Bob Ling gaining
«hird place in the YOs Competition and Sergeant Smith gaining
second place in the pistol.
The OC, Major Jim Keating, followed up his participation
in the shooting team by attending the June Senior Management
Course at the School of Ordnance. He informs us that he en-

joyed it, despite a competition amongst other students to see
who was first in to have forty winks at the sight of yet more
vufoils being shown to get over the subject matter. Despite
all the distractions he managed to pledge his support, in his final
presentation, to the new proposed MTI Roll which we hope will
get off the ground soon and be a benefit to the Corps and
all concerned.
We have just had another inter-platoon novices boxing
competition which was won by Gibraltar Platoon, Our con-
gratulations go to all boxers who participated in the competition
for the excellent entertainment they provided along with their
guts and determination. Well done to all boxers. Our thanks
also go to QMSI Ron Spree for his usual excellent organisation
and to all the officials who took part, including CSM Dusty Miller
who acted as MC for the evening,
Due to the recent slash in recruiting, we have seen the last
occasion that we are likely to ever have six recruit platoons
(all two hundred and twenty of them) undergoing basic training
at the same time again. What a difference it will be when
Major * Jim' hands over the Company to his successor on
6th November that only boasts one platoon.
I would just like to remind Captain Malcolm Jenkins
and all of Admin Company about the one wicket thrashing that
was dished out to them by the hands of Training Company, with
the winning text book shot being made by Gorgeous Gordon,
ably assisted by Messrs Keating, Parrot, Gilman, Baillie, Hamil-
ton, Egan, Marson, Crawford, Shrehorn, Warburton, Wolfe,'
Loynes and Wilde.
CYPRUS PLATOON formed up thirty nine strong. By week
two, a few had fallen by the way-side unable to adapt to Army
life. The platoon now shaping well had its first major test, the
inter platoon boxing, needless to say the whole of Cyprus
Platoon volunteered, (with a little prompting of course) this was
soon down to sixteen. We finally ended up with nine, of which,
five reached the final. Namely Privates Basher Fennell, Punk
Hayes r Gory Gall, Hurricane Haughton and Punchy Williams,
our overall result was second, a creditable result—well done.
The platoons next task was to pass off the square, this
was achieved in week five, followed by a long weekend. On
return there were cries of " Sarge, my kit was nicked at the
railway station " there was Tucker on his knees praying, " Thank
God for Kit Insurance!". This he had only taken out the
previous week*
The platoon now looks forward to week eight when we
shall be off to- Hythe for a weeks Range Camp, where hope-
fully we shall achieve some passes in the APWT and we hope
the weather will be favourable and the entertainment fruitful.
DELHI PLATOON.
At last, after a short pro-tem the in-
famous Delhi Platoon have formed and are now well into the
first quarter of their training. The platoon staff had to be given
a refresher course in MTI duties and are coping well under
the strain. In week two Lieutenant Argyle and Sergeant Eric
Blunn took the platoon on a weekend of adventure training in
East Grinstead and were involved in a small community project
on a nearby farm. We have said farewell to Corporal Alan
Zycinski who has been forced to pack his kit and move to
Bracht. Thanks for all you've done. We hope Marian and
yourself have a great tour. Lance Corporal Pete Plimmer is now
