Transcription well on the mend from his slipped disc and now gives his word
of command looking up at the ceiling. The platoon have now
welcomed Corporal Egan to swell their ranks and things can
now only get better? Our airborne warrior Corporal Tan: Thomas
is presently attending his First Aid course and keeps asking if
the Corps has such things as Para-Medics. Lance Corporal
Keshvala (it is spelt right) has been selected for the Cambrian
March Team and all the staff wish him well.
321 EOD Company
IT is with deep regret that we record
the death of VV02 Mick O'Neil during
an EOD task in Newry, Mick had
been with us only a short time, but was
well known, and is sadly missed by
us all. Our sin ceres t condolences go
to his wife Hylda, and his family.
Recruiting and Liaison Staff and
Corps Mobile Display Team
THINGS are developing all the time in the recruiting world with
soldier places almost full; what a fine job Major Dennis Ford is
d j n g—he can at last get out and play some sport, there was
even a rumour that the RAOC RLO, Lieutenant Colonel David
Elliott, actually took a sports afternoon too. This of course
left Colonel Bob Allen, Rachel Jones and Kathy Crossley carry-
ing on the movement of the never ending officer process. They
say that Captain Fifi Elliot has finally got round to exercising
her dog Thursday whilst assessing girls at a WRAC pre-RCB,
how does she manage to cram it all in, we ask?
The Mobile Display Team has been plagued with problems
this season, with vehicle after vehicle breaking down, not to
mention the sites allocated. Everyone is pulling through though
and the CSM, Ron Chapman, assures us that morale is as high as
could be expected
Lance Corporal Steve Sutcliffe has
been moonlighting during the tour doing interior decorating for
the locals! Private 'Trucks' Williams
assures us that there is
L
no difference between driving the four ton rig' and the Escort,
meanwhile' Lance Corporal 'Smudge* Smith is still trying to dis-
cover what the left hand pedal does. Private 'Nobby' Clarke it
seems, is aiming to have blonde hair for his wedding in Septem-
ber, everytirne he is seen it is a different shade.
NO. 2 SECTION. To all those lucky enough to be serving in
Fort George, the Irish weather report rings true. Last week it
only rained twice—once for three days and once for four days'.
New arrivals W02 Dave Moor has now settled in, his pre-
decessor W02 Paul Mitchell having moved to Bessbrook. We
have said final farewell to Private Jock Ferguson—the men in
the POL Office can now breathe great sighs of relief. We wish
him all the best for his forthcoming marriage.
Captain Andy Williams celebrated his birthday in true style
with an IED in Coleraine. He maintains it was a bit of a sticky
job—but only because it involved a gallon of Evostick!
Private Plug Elstob has asked for a mention this month but
your scribe doesn't think he can raise the enthusiasm!

NO. I SECTION. Bobcat team with
Captain Ken Moules assisted by his
side-kick Lance Corporal Yorkie
Williams have been busy appearing on TV and in the newspaper,
it's rumoured they ring the press before going out on tasks. In*
fact Bobcat are into devices that apparently fall off cars!
Bearcat team with W02 Dave Couling and Corporal Keith
Morris out amongst the RPG sevens and bullets have been
doing a Bodie and Doyle act on the Falls Road diving into hedge
borders and drawing their pistols at the same time only to find
their lanyards are too short.
Flashcat with the dynamic duo Staff Sergeant Chris Brown
and Private Kev Connors have noticed wheelbarrow workshops
are short of work and prior to handing over to Sergeant Andy
Hawkins blew up their wheelbarrow to prove their team motto.
Sergeant John Anderson, leader of our resident RCT crews,
is filling in on R and R duty on the teams: it is rumoured that
he wants to be an operator next.
Staff Sergeant Brian Sutton has been seen by Bearcat team
doing a dancing act in an EOD suit in the middle of Belfast
(Hughie Green take note).
We finish by saying welcome to Sergeant Andy Hawkins and
we say farewell to Staff Sergeant Chris Brown (wheelbarrow
workshops take note) who has gone through the ritual of the
EWS tank twice,

Ordnance Depot Northern Ireland
FRESH and fit the warriors from Ordnance Depot Northern
Ireland have just returned from Exercise Finn McCaul's Leap
in the Isle-of-Man, and as if this wasn't enough punishment a
party of ten, led by Captain John Hardcastle, are in the process
of completing an adventurous training expedition on Norway,
separate reports will no doubt follow. While still on training
it is worthy of note that everyone has passed their BFT during
the last month, although some did * practice ' more than others.
The Charity Ball held at Kinnegar was a great success with
a large turnout of both civilian employees and military person-
nel A total of £850 was donated to the Eventide Salvation
Army Home for the elderly. It was organised by Major Tony
Bettaney whom we must also congratulate having recently
married Patricia,
Marriage must be the vogue at the moment since Lance
Corporal Hallam has also taken the plunge and married a local
girl called Susan. We wish them every happiness.
Con-
gratulations must also go to Sergeant Clarke ACC who has
recently had an addition to his family in the shape of a baby
boy.
The civilian staff have also had something to celebrate
with the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Hurles present-
ing Imperial Service Medals to Mr F. D, L Dee and Mr W. A.
Morris.
A Dinner Night was held recently for Officers and Senior
Ranks. Sergeant Chris Edgeworth was welcomed, having been
recently promoted and we said farewell to a large number of
those leaving. An excellent night was had by all and our
thanks must go to Captain Eric Pitchforth for arranging the
entertainment.
Barnacle Bill otherwise known as Captain Larry Wynn.
our overworked Adjutant, managed to take a break from his
office and circumnavigated (which he assures me means ' sail
