AT last the workers from Admin Services
take the chance to make a contribution to
the Corps GAZETTE. There has been a lot
of movement recently, also one happy
event and that is the recent marriage of
Corporal Paul Callow to Catherine Jeanne
Courts. Congratulations and all the best
for the future.
We welcome Corporal
Martin Meighan and Staff Sergeant Mick
Blair and say farewell to Staff Sergeant
Tony Grace to MOD on promotion (Con-
gratulations ' Q '), Sergeant Mick McNicol
to the Emerald Isle and Lance Corporal
Kev Harvey just downstairs to Head-
quarters BAOR. A special mention must
be made of " our boss,' Private Mick. Demeza. He has been seen
to be smiling a lot Jately. Something to do with promotion or pay
of higher rank can it be?
We bid farewell to Corporal Eve Milne WRAC who has
been Shorthand Writer to COMNORTHAG since March 1979
ind welcome in her place Private Karen Cochrane.
Karen is also Scottish so will soon be wearing the tartan
-ikirt Those of you who have been with NORTHAG before
will probably know Adjt (WOl) Tio Hautvas of the BE Army
who served with HSC NORTHAG from 1966 to 1968 and then
went to the Belgian Congo. He returned to G3 Headquarters
NORTHAG in 1972 and has worked in the Headquarters ever
since. Tio is now PA to DCOS Support and still takes a full
part in athletics, cross country running, shooting, etc. Tio is
well known for his secret brew of wine and champagne which
he serves on the coach going to the annual Chief Clerks dinner,
normally held in Koln, and which we hope to sample again
soon. Tio sends his regards to all his friends in the Corps.
The combined Syndicate 1 Team faired reasonably well
in the NORTHAG Athletics Meeting with W 2 Barry Quigley
and W 2 Doug Boshier both attaining personal bests in the
live thousand metres. The medley relay team which included
our two W 2 runners had an outstanding win, beating the
opposition by some distance. The remainder of the staff who
don't have the ' team spirit' managed to cope quite well with the
work of those gladiators on view. They are now training
hard for the swimming gala. We say farewell this month to
Corporal Joe Meecham. We hope they have word processors as
Joe is more than interested.
PERHAPS many readers of T H E GAZETTE
have never heard of us, but I can assure
you that RAOC is well represented at this
NATO Headquarters near Oslo Norway.
WOl Sid Noble heads the cast (will he
really get Ron Greenwood's job!) assisted
by Sergeant Bernie Morgan and Corporal
Kevin Golby who all survive in Admin
Services of PANDA Division. We also have
Staff Sergeant Phil Marriott in Land Deputy,
congratulations on being selected for pro-
motion to W02, Sergeant Steve Sambles
PA to C-in-C, congratulations on your engagement to Pal, best
wishes for the future, Corporal Tony Donaldson in Plans and
Corporal John Instone at the UKL element. We must not forget
W 2 Mick (The Dart) Baron at the British Embassy in Oslo.
He was so busy during the recent royal visit, he couldn't find the
time to practice his favourite sport.
Eric Bristow better
watch out,
After a long hard cold winter the sun has arrived and we are
enjoying some glorious weather. The ski's have been locked
away and the darts and dominoes dusted over ready for use once
more. A forthcoming event which seems to have caught the
imagination of all is the visit of HMS Antrim to Oslo. We ^
have all been asked to ' take a sailor home.' Hope the wife
doesn't object!
Perhaps this is the first report from our part of the world
for a very long time but it is hoped to contribute on a more
regular basis in the future.
LOGISTICS.
Our resounding victory in the athletics was due in
no small way t o : —Notable Participant—Corporal Homer, Team
Management—W02 Evans, further support was ably given by
Corporal Ford and Private Compton (discus chucker extra-
ordinaire). We welcome Private Compton in E exchange' for
Private Ali from the UK Nat Det. As this exchange occurred
just prior to the NORTHAG Athletics Meeting we wondered
whether Pete All's athletics prowess had been noticed by UK
Nat Det before arranging the swop. Tn the event G4 Athletes
could not be thwarted and gained a first place.
Hardly any time to compile notes from EPS this month.
Private Thompson is enjoying himself learning to achieve the
impossible, whilst Private Hargrove has managed to get his
sister married off to Lance Corporal Currie—Congrats to Hubbie
and Frau from EBS, Marvin's looking forward, like the rest of
us, to the House Warming Party,
Our Ops Branch (G3) say they have nothing to offer al-
though two of the three top clerks are in the news. Q Gemmell
has got the posting of his choice and acting WOl as well. All
^gree that he has earned both. Staff Besselling has got his sub
rank at long last and unfortunately had to go into hospital at
very short notice to have a little problem put to rights.
We welcome Major Denis Bell from Bicester as our new
Supply Officer vice Major Alan WainwrighU

Headquarters AFCENT
LIFE here at Brunssum has slowed in pace
with the approach of the summer leave
season and, accordingly, our sparse notes
reflect the reduced activity.
Our con-
gratulations go to the AFCENT Football
Team, and especially to the Ordnance mem-
bers, on their recent win against FAD
Wulfen in the Calian Cup for the Rhine
Area
Minor
Units
League
Winners
(Northern against Southern area).
Con-
gratulations also go to Corporals Mick
Blake on his recent promotion to acting
rank, and to Kev Smith on passing his RPCl.
Another tit-bit of note is that Sergeants
Tony Catchpole and Jim Gauld are heard
before they are seen in the corridors of AFCENT as they
exercise their vocal chords in preparation for the forthcoming
Alliance Players Cabaret Nights in which, to use the term
loosely, they are * performing."
Finally, on arrivals and departures, we welcome Private
Bob Hargreaves from COD Donnington and bid farewell to
Corporal and Mrs Dave Tydeman who are moving to Head-
quarters I (BR) Corps on posting,
Headquarters BAOR
AS predicted, the RAOC team from Rhein-
dahlen Garrison did well at the RAOC BAOR
Athletics Meeting by gaining a second place in
the track events, Unfortunately, and as expected,
the teams did not fare so well in the field events
and so gained an overall position of sixth. Not
bad though for eleven clerks and one storeman.
Sergeant Colin Whittington and Corporal Reg
Black excelled themselves in the five thousand
metres and fifteen hundred metres by coming
second and third respeclivcly in each of the races. Sergeant
