ADMINISTRATION.
After a long absence from these pages X
have been under constant pressure and harassment from dis-
satisfied Admin Staff—" Why don't we ever get a mention,
Sarge? That lot down the Sheds are always in THE GAZETTE.*'
Right then. Here's everyone (I hope), not necessarily in order
of importance.
Photo Sergeant
Voice.
Lieutenant Colonel Rees attests Michael Ore, the son of Captain
John Ore of the Corps, presently at ASU Rhine Area.
Our athletic team departed to the Corps Championship
where the team came a creditable third in the Challenge Cup
and fourth overall. The outstanding stars were Staff Sergeant
Pete Marsh who repeated his performance of the Unit Sports
by winning both the five thousand and fifteeen hundred metres
events and SSM George Gormley, our resident DMA, who was
second in a photo-finish in the eight hundred metres. Cricket
continues on its successful route by convincingly defeating Com-
mand Pay Office in the round of the Rhine Area Cup with
Major Vic Nicholls the GMA and SQMS Terry Reifer both
hitting very rapid scores of fifty eight,
Congratulations go to Corporal Jim McNiven on his sub-
stantive promotion and to Corporal Derek Milian REME^ on
his promotion.
We say a sad farewell to our RQMS Brian Manson who
returns to Blackdown prior to retirement. We thank him for all
his efforts and wish him all the best for his days of leisure.
At the moment we say hello/goodbye or should it be the other
way round, to now RQMS Brian Chambers who moves over to
fill the RQ's job from being WOIC RSG. Other farewells
this month are Sergeant Keith Straughier, who is dancing all
the way to Oman, Corporal Tapper, who is posted on promotion
with our congratulations and Corporal Mick Brewster—all leave
with our gratitude for their service to the unit.
Welcome is extended to Sergeants Paul Goodeve and Annette
Goodeve WRAC, who occasionally * ride tandem' when he
travels from his Mess to her Mess on his motorbike whilst
awaiting a family nest to be allocated.
INVENTORY
CONTROL
POINT
THE Inter Unit Sports day has come and gone. From out of
the office sprang forth some surprises, the main one being
SQMS Wally McKie. He entered some of the events simply to
gain a team point but much to his surprise he won the discus
and came fourth in the hammer. This newly found talent
of his has really put the bit firmly between his teeth as now he
is training each day for the Rhine Area sports. Other winners
were Staff Sergeant Pete Marsh in the fifteen hundred and the
five thousand metre events. These he ran after his normal
ten mile lunchtime session.
Corporal Terry Kennedy is back with us having passed
his RPCI Course and EPC examination and Lance Corporal
Tracy Bowles has recently completed a basic German language
course. It is believed she only volunteered for this after having
an accident in her car and found she did not understand all the
swear words used by the other driver.
Lieutenant Colonel Eric Gill took Captain Stephen John,
Corporal Dave Patterson and a party of three off to Switzerland
on a walkabout. They were there for over a week and covered
many difficult up-hill miles visiting a glacier on one of the
days. All are back now looking like they picked up some rare
disease but they assure us it is only peeling sunburn. On the
subject of sunburn SSM Derek Ashdown is sunning himself
in Italy and Sergeant Shirley Moore is on holiday in Jamaica.
Sergeant Maggie Devlin, Corporal May Cockburn and Lance
Corporal Sharon Conyon have been roughing it on their annual
camp. Looking at the sun tans they came back with it must
have been really rough,

HEADQUARTERS.
The CO, Lieutenant Colonel Ewens and
his Planning Staff, have been extremely busy of late with the
opening of the new St Michaels Church in Tower Barracks. A
dedication service was conducted by Padre John Webb with the
dedication performed by The Reverend C H. Jobson, Senior
Chaplain BAOR.
The Planning Staff consists of Major Frank Butterworth,
Captain Ted Walker, Staff Sergeant Neil Cor less and Sergeant
Colin Douglas-Hill. Mrs Eleanor Moody. PA to the CO. and
the recently promoted W 2 Derek White (RAPC) complete the
Headquarters Staff.
HEADQUARTERS
ADMIN.
Major John Cantor (SAO) and
Captain Mike Parsons (RAO) are at the helm, literally in the
case of the RAO with all his sailing courses. The Chief Clerk,
Staff Sergeant Colin Dewsbury is in deep water himself. Not
only has he been selected to represent BAOR in an Inter-service
angling competition, but he's also been hooked by Records for
promotion, a Work Study course and posting. We reckon it's a
red herring until we see it in writing.
Corporal Nick Noble is the latest in an ill-fated line of Docs
Clerks.
Lance Corporal Mark Lewis is still golfing, our Leave and
Travel Clerk Private Max Maxwell is on leave and his partner
in crime Private Morph Mumford has just returned.
Private Scouse Russell, recently arrived, is under constant
pressure in the Registry and Lance Corporal Benny Hassan is
our Post Orderly.
The RP Staff is made up of Sergeant Billy Wreyford,
Corporals Paul Shields, Ginge Howson and Lance Corporal Bob
Steward, whilst the Training Staff of Second Lieutenant Jim
Lancaster, Sergeant Jim Starkey and Corporal Graham Smith
are fully occupied in planning for Summer Camp.
Our Work Study Practitioners are WO I Steve Myers and
W 2 Barry Baxter.
I nearly forgot the RSM. Phew! WOl Brian Patchitt is
currently involved with leave, summer camp, squash, leave,.
summer camp and squash—and all the other things RSMs do,
And finally yours truly the ORS, Sergeant Nigel Radford, EPC(A)
and a pen rapidly running o u t
QM STAFF.
The CQMS is on form at the moment, having
been selected for promotion, winning the BAOR Corps Pistol
Competition and gaining third place in the Rhine Area Shoot.
He is assisted by Corporals Roger Dunn, Taff Fallon, both
newly elevated to sub rank, Lance Corporals Mark Wallis, Cliff
Maffia and Boots Hawksby. Mrs Sandy Tutor has been replaced
by Miss Jackie Knight, Gabbie Suehling keeps the office function-
ing while others come and go.
SSO DEPARTMENT,
The SSOs Department usually write
about themselves but for the record they are: Major Roger
Tweed, Staff Sergeant Keith Jones, Sergeant Sean McPoland,
Lance Corporal Paddy Coulter and Frau Hilda Radford.
Corporal Les Knight has just departed but has left behind
two daughters as a legacy of his stay—Chris is c/o Lance
Corporal Cutler and Jackie c/o the QM. I said he was lucky!
STORES SUB-DEPOT.
Not a quiet month by any stretch of
the imagination . . . . the OCs promise of settling down for a bit
didn't come to pass as we all suspected. Fifty five thousand issues
later we began to realise it was business as usual, except for, that
is, our SSD Spring Ball, a most lavish, well-organised disco-
