The containers known as Triwall Containers a ^ much

reservation of Base Depots Inter Officers Mess Tournament
Trophy to the joint winners by Mrs Kathleen Ay t o n ,
The 22nd July dawned with heavy rain at Chilwell and
• tic telephone calls to Meteorological offices in the hope that
i; deluge would cease and give us a Fine day for tennis and the
nal ceremonies of the 1981 Tournament. In the event Chil-
ell turned up trumps as usual and the day ended with the
VDs/RAOC Andover team taking the tennis trophy, and
faring the overall tournament trophy with Bicester.
There were feelings of nostalgia as we assembled in the
htlwell Officers Mess, for possibly the last time. For the days
resentations, after an excellent tea. But we were delighted to have
ie company of Brigadier and Mrs George Ayton and Colonel
r- p ry Dowall; Brigadier Ayton was the instigator of the touma-
^ it in 1965 and kindly donated the tournament trophy and
r'i:<oden spoon. Brigadier Peter Crawley, Director Base Depots
resented the tennis trophy to the worthy winners and it was
icst appropriate that Mrs Kathleen Dowall should present the
xirnament trophy to the joint winners, and Brigadier George
^yton should present the wooden spoon, which he had so
Dvingly made in those far oiT days, to the joint recipients
"hilwell/Donnington and CADs/DLSA.

Lieutenant Lear, at present serving with the Supply Depot
at Bulford was also awarded a substantial sum by the Ministry
of Defence Major Awards Committee.
The award was in
respect of the same suggestion aimed at improving ih c process-,
ing and storage of Prestocked Unit Equipments which resulted in
savings in packaging materials, heated storage accommodation
and made outloading easier and more efficient. Sumgc savings
have been estimated at some thirty five per cent to forty per cent
per Prestocked Unit Equipment.
Our photograph shows Colonel Harverson CRAOC South
