ORDNANCE
COMPANY
WELL we are now officially 1 Armoured Division Ordnance
Company and despite a certain amount of apparent fatigue it
did not hurt one bit I
Bournemouth Barracks may be a far cry from the hustling
relaxation of that same seaside resort but one thing is for sure,
that there is plenty of hustle and bustle with little relaxation
at the moment. Oh roll on the exercise season!
With so much time spent on re-org it was therefore a
ve;y creditable achievement on the footballers part to carry
oft the DDOS OFP Cup for the second year running.
In
reality it was the players who were carried off after a gruelling
two hour match with 2 Armoured Division Ordnance Com-
pany. The cup was finally decided on penalties. Even then,
the regulation five kicks still produced stale mate. It was the
gymnastic ability of our miniature of mini goal keepers,
Smudger Smith, that eventually won the cup for us.
In
essence no one really lost this match as it was, it was football
and the players who won,
Congratulations to Private Aitcheson on his recent marriage
ar.^ best wishes for the future—just remember get fit to defend
that Cup! Also in line for congratulations on gaining pro-
motion are: Corporals Graham, Law, Brown and Lance Corporal
Sydenham.
Sergeant Harry Carr, leaves us soon for UFC and civvy street;
he and his family will be missed. We wish them well for the
future. Corporal Charlie Cannings was married on the 8th of
April but he returned from his honeymoon to join Exercise
Pack Saddle!
On 1st April the Depot, as part of restructuring, came
under command of 1 Armoured Division. This was marked
by a change of command ceremony at which CRAOC Corps
Troops (East) Lieutenant Colonel Dodworth, and CRAOC
1 Armoured Division Lieutenant Colonel Owen were present,
and for which the Master Baker cerated an appropriate com-
memorative exhibit featuring our new Divisional insignia.
This was a nostalgic occasion since a Headquarters at Celle
has played a part in guiding the destinfes of this Depot for the
last thirty years.

REGIMENT
WITH restructuring now over and threats of our seemingly
incurable disease ' overstretch' being investigated in the not
too distant future, I am able to snatch a, few moments off to
pen this hurried note to all our readers.
A lot has happened since our last letter was published
and a muster is obviously called for.
Starting with the
most important person and working down, we have Private
Tom Wright, Lance Corporal Steve Oxley, Corporal Jim Nesbitt,
Coporal Allen Schofield, Sergeant Dave Holmes and holding
them all up/down, W02 Dave Godwin.
Congratulations are in order to Corporal Allen Schofield
on passing his EPC and to Private Tom Wright on gaining a
winners medal in the Sapper Rugby Cup Final.
Two dates worth recording are the 9th March when we
took part in the Formation Parade and the 31st March when
our Technical Inspection was carried out, both events went
well, much to the relief of * Q ' Godwin.
The 31st March also marked a day in the history of our
stores section when we ceased to be the RAOC Stores Section
21 Engineer Regiment Workshop and became the RAOC Stores
Section 1 Armoured Division Engineer Regiment Workshop.
Many changes have occurred since this Stores Section was
formed in 1968 one of the most important being in May 1976 *
when we became a Tertiary Depot for the first time.
So with the first decade over we continue with a smaller
establishment but with ten years experience to help us.

change of command ceremony.
79 SUPPLY DEPOT
'AT; HIN the Depot there has been much movement of stores
•\ ...-rder to make room for the arrival of CDP 4 from Scheuen.
I he exercise period is in full swing which entails extra effort
from everyone; even the CQMS, Tony Mclntyre, was despatched
on exercise.
A successful Unit range day was held and very good
scores attained. The question is, who was sent for range stew
but returned with fish and chips but no vinegar?
On the sports front we actually managed to enter a foot'
ball competition. Captained by Sergeant Tommy McGurk we
^'er?
knocked out in the first round by a vastly younger team.
! : ;
^' - he essence is in the playing of the game. The Depot
^ : •; intendent, Jim Grant, manages to fish when he can break
'he ice, Our Master Baker Dave Timms has recently joined
a local shooting club. The OC, when losing a Unit shooting
competition, found that the tradition of the loser buying a
round is expensive when no one is on leave. Our Chief Clerk,
Skill being exercised by W O l Mike Wilson watched with
anticipation by Corporal Dave Jones and Privates Roy Bullough,
Archie Archibald and Dick Chishofm.
