Transcription DGOS is making a visit to the District. There will be more
news of these events in our next letter meanwhile we cannot end
without recording a tribute lo our illustrious Corps Band which
made such a major contribution to the entertainment of the
huge crowds at the Flower Show, Our tribute to the band is
echoed by the many distinguished military musicians who at-
tended the show and gains even greater currency in view of the
unfortunate absence of the Director of Music due to a slipped
disc! It was most fortunate that the Bandmaster of our local
Infantry Battalion, The Queens Lancashire Regiment, was avail-
able to step inlo the breach which he did most admirably.
Sergeant Hall taking his place in Soest. Corporal Parish '
thinking more seriously of his impending move from DetmnM
to BATUS taking over from Corporal Panter. StafT Sereea t
Dodd at Headquarters AAC in Bielefeld found time to join th
Corps Stores Company on adventure training in Bavaria, but th
fresh air did not tempt him to give up the cigarettes! *
Farewell to Major N. O. H. de Foubert who has given up V
blue beret and moves to 79 Supply Depot. He has been a eon!5
trouble shooter for all the FAACO and we wish him well on
another BAOR tour! Welcome to Major Brightman from De er >
cut to the AAC world.

10 Ordnance Support Battalion
1 AIRCRAFT SUPPORT UNIT RAOC.
The past month has not been without its
successes. There were frantic efforts under-
taken to complete the RAOC entry for
the Army Air Corps Centre Sponsored
Chariot Race in aid of the disabled; the
brainchild of Corporal Willis and Lance
Corporal Woodward. The finished article
was a high performance thoroughbred that
would surely have held pride of place in

any Roman Chariot dealer's showroom.
""
But don't take my word for it—look at
the photograph and you will see why we won the prize for the
best turned out entry. Congratulations to our team of six who
reached the semi-finals only to be beaten by some underhand
tactics. The Charioteers are Private (Ben HUT) Jenkins and
Private Fultdn.
The horses are Corporal Langland, Lance
Corporal Kerry, Corporals Dexter and Hallett.
SINCE our last contribution, the Battalion has been busy
preparing for our forthcoming exercise in Denmark. However
certain events deserve a special mention. We entered a team for
the RMP Chichester March 81. The line-up for the forty kilo-
metre march was the Adjutant. Captain Clive Elderton, Lieu-
tenant John Wiggell, W 2 Frank Malone. Sergeant Bill Fairly
Corporals Paddy Co ugh Ian and Peter Morris, Privates Jock
Falconer and Bob Thompson. The team awoke at 0600 hours
and it quickly became obvious that some of the stalwarts werfc
suffering from the after effects of the Reunion Disco the
previous evening. The team however, did manage to cross
the start line at 0800 hours, on time!, eventually returning some
six and a half hours later after their stroll around the Chichester
countryside.
After crossing the finish line there were con-
gratulations, prize-giving and Corporal Peter Morris made him-
self known to the Chichester Beauty Queen.

Work, continues on the transfer of stores to our Old-Samm
site where we are concentrating our seal in gs for the Historic
Aircraft Flight When all the move is complete we will be able
to set about some redistribution of our stores in Middle Wallop.
The big secret in this game is to keep everything on the move
so that you can always have a stock answer for discrepancies!
We welcome Private Elstob back from Northern Ireland and
promptly say farewell to him on his posting to Rippon. Some-
where along the line he is getting married and we wish him and
his new wife every happiness in the future. Corporal Bourne has
returned from detachment at RAF Aldergrove and his place
taken by Lance Corporal Cheetham.
We welcome Privates
Wills and Morten and hope they enjoy their tour in Middle
Wallop. Finally but by no means least we say a sad farewell
to W02 Green who leaves on posting to Kineton. He has been
a mainstay not only on the stores side of the unit but also
where social and sporting activities have been concerned. We
wish him every success in his new job.
HQ AAC 1 (BR) CORPS—ORD {SUP). The news from the

Carnival Beauty Queen.
The last month seems to have been the Battalions 'season*
for beauty queens. In the Devizes Carnival Tradesmens Swim-
ming Competition our winning team of Captain Charles EmmenV
Lieutenant Bob McCailum and Staff Sergeant Dave Sumner
of 48 AMF(L) Company were presented with the cup by the
Devizes Carnival Queen. There is no truth in the rumour
that Captain Emmett was runner up to the Carnival Queen despite
his revealing costume.

Exercise Summer Safari. The aim of the
exercise was to present an RAOC field
force unit to Welbeck College students
with the possibility of recruiting potential
officers for the Corps. The exercise in-
cluded presentations to seventy five Wei-
beck students in the areas of both Kineton and Bicester.
The exercise started with a tactical road move from Col-
chester to Kineton, The experience of London morning rusa
hour traffic in a ten ton vehicle will not be forgotten by trie
odd driver and civilian traffic alike, it is not recommended to
the faint-hearted! Nevertheless the Company arrived at tne
