Transcription Some of the male cast in Fiona Dennison's production of * Con-
duct Unbecoming ' the Training Centre entry for this years drama
festival.
From left to right; Lieutenant Colonel Mike Willis
(Adjutant), Major Ken Collins (Senior Subaltern), Second
Lieutenant Neal Jobbings (Second Lieutenant John Truly),
Captain Mike Dalley (Second Lieutenant Winters), Major
Arthur Sutton (Retd) (Colonel)* Padre Michael Ryall (Lieutenant
Frank Hart), Private Michael Knox (Second Lieutenant Boulton),
Private Gerald Foster (Lieutenant Frank Hutton), Captain Bob
Hussey (Major Lionel Roach), seated Sergeant John Foey (Second
Lieutenant John Stirling).
The set, bristling with regimental bric-a-brac, was perfect—if
a little small for the large cast and a great credit to Messrs
Watson, Sturdy and Cartwright. Lighting effects, vital to the
mood o£ the play, were first class and Bob Hussey and John
Hunt must share some credit for the success of the production.
The play was dressed with all the glamour of the period high-
lighted, makeup was by Ann Cooke.
Delivering his public adjudication at the end of the per-
formance the distinguished critic and producer Mr A. Hodgson,
began on a complimentary note. Indeed, he u went so far as to
say that it had been some time since he had so much to praise
and so little to complain about in a production."
With several entries still to judge Mr Hodgson was suit-
ably reticent of the final outcome of the Festival which will
not be known for a few weeks. However, Mrs Dennison and
her cast have every right to be hopeful, more than hopeful if the
reaction of the 'full house' at the Tela Theatre is a yard-
stick—and it should be.

with a quartz watch on his leaving DSM(A) Control Division
on retirement.
Both Freddie and his wife Dorothy were formally presented to
The Queen at the Garden Party.
His connection with the Corps has not been entirely severed
as his twin brother, one rank higher due presumably to his being
ten minutes senior, is working as a Retired Officer at Head-
quarters UK.LF.
Now living at Kidlington near Bicester,
Freddie now plans to move to the Sussex coast where he can
spend his winnings from the Officers Mess gaming machines.

THE RETIREMENT OF
MAJOR F. O. LYNCH (RETD,)

THE retirement of Major Freddie Lynch cannot be allowed to
pass without an appreciation of his almost fifty years service
to the Corps.
Freddie joined the RAOC as a Boy Soldier at Bramley
in 1928, entering man's service in 1931. His early years in the
Corps were spent in the Middle East. He took part in the
Desert Campaign of 1941, survived the Siege of Tobruk and
then served in Palestine and North Africa. In 1943 he was
commissioned into RE ME, serving at Tel El Kebir and later
at Borden. In 1946 he returned to RAOC becoming Assistant
Planning Officer at Thatch am.
Thereafter his service was
spent in various UK Depots intermingled with tours in the
Far East and in Berlin. Freddie has the distinction of being
the first Brigade Ordnance Officer ever to serve with the Com-
mandos, taking up the post with 3 RM Commando Brigade in
1947.
In 1963 Freddie accepted a ' Golden Bowler/ but again his
attempts to escape the Corps failed and he returned as a
Retired Officer with the appointment of Head of Technical
Records Group at Bicester, a post which he held until his
retirement.
His ability to be in the right place at the right time is
characterised by his arrival at Bicester just one week before the
1965 Royal Visit; he retired just one day after Her Majesty
The Queen visited the Corps at Bicester on the 16th May 1978!
