Transcription Our old BOO (Captain Andrew Harrison) has now left us
to make some money^-in civvy street. WOl Fred Rowberry has
vacated the Superintending Clerk's chair for easier duties with
UKLF. Luckily his replacement already played golf so there
were no problems with the handover. W02 Graham takes and
moves from Chief Clerk G Branch to his new job on pro-
motion. Other departures are Corporal Guy Elliott, who is
going on a UN tour in Cyprus, and Corporal Lenny Hardmarj
off to Hong Kong. Meanwhile, all the other staff clerks are
working out ' days to do * and looking for letters with a
Records Office post mark.
Apart from training for the BFT, golf and squash are the
main sports of the moment. Lance Corporal Roy Bingham
plays a lot of squash which is really very remarkable as he is
usually on leave in the UK or planning exotic holidays abroad.
The Superintending Clerk and BOWO (WOl Dougie Riddell)
have both been spending a lot of time recently recceing all the
local golf courses. We provided part of the Signal Squadron
team in the Brigade Golf Championship and -Sergeant Dave
Crab be who is attached to the Signal Squadron and W02 Graham
both put in good performances. Obviously, if you play golfj

prove it all is a photograph of them, both in the bows of

bucket and spade but we did make sure he had a load to carry
over the beach at Ballykinler, we filled his ceremonial am-
munition box with sand!

about Argentina we can't afford the fare,
APRIL drew to a close with Lance Corporal Mike Frend lead-
ing a marching team of Staff Sergeant Alan Chapman, Lance
Corporal Ken Bayley and Privates Gordon Smith and Fus
Fazakerley to blisters and medals at the Sixth International
March held by the Royal School of Gendarmerie at Brussels.
They are still limping after marching forty two kilometres but
with their supply of ' duty free ' exhausted, their exploits are not
listened to with the same rapt attention.
Sergeant Sammy Williams led the hockey team to a credit-
able quarter-final place in the Northern Ireland six-a-side
tournament despite the regular players being away shooting.
Captain Alastair Shackleton has also had a physical month
attending a PT Course. He now intends to inflict all manner
of nastiness on the rest of us in the name of "Fit to t i g h t "
So far he has only taken it out on his dog whose name has

With Captain Mike Wilcox away advancing his Ordnance
Officer knowledge, W02 Tony Bailey and Staff Sergeant Tony
Drake have been doing their best to backload all the ammunition
—while the cat's away!
The VSD have excelled themselves during the month. To
begin with W02 John Crosland took one of the new minis on a
road test with the yellow number plate on the front and the
white on the rear—he does not know whether he is coming or
going after his sailing trip from Portsmouth. To cap it
all Lance Corporal Dinger Bell ' lost' a Land Rover.
After much frantic telephoning he found it in the centre of
Belfast with * Felix * threatening to disfigure i t
For the first time the Depot were represented at the Corps
Shooting Meeting and considering the extremely limited time for
practice they did us proud. After disembarking at Liverpool,
and within a mile of the docks they heard a sound like a shot.
Hearts fluttered and eventually red faces reappeared from the
floor boards after Lance Corporal Chris Hadley explained that
it was only the windscreen shattering. The team's best perform-
ance came in the falling plates competition where they were

BRIGADE
ONCE again it is time to remind the RAOC in general and in
particular our Manning Office of the small cadre of RAOC
clerks in Headquarters 3 Infantry Brigade in Portadown, County
Armagh,
The past few months have been quiet but we have seen
many arrivals and departures and have all been busy with
various handovers. We welcome our new BOO, Captain Neil
Dyer, Staff Sergeant Jim Bond from UKLF, and Privates Pete
Lewis, Wally Bradley and Sharky Cooksey.
