Although we have been quiet for a while, things are

, . .
'\. Ol Pete Pearson has returned from leave with an optimistic
„j!look for the coming months, while Corporal Alan Simpkin
! as his EPC course in the near future-
Lance Corporal Colin Wilks looks forward to a spot of
e a ve' after returning from a couple of weeks on Combat
Supplies.
Private Steve Bourne is doing wonders with our MHE and
privates Geordie Houston, Mark Jennings, Chris Hemms and
o a y Ward thoroughly enjoyed his lecture. Their newly acquired
Jou-ledge is invaluable, says Sergeant Tony Griffiths.
,;
iaff Sergeant Paul Robinson has taken over as Assistant
\ ,v Treasurer and Corporal Ron Gant hopes for hot weather
jy.-iiM he goes on leave,
Finally, we congratulate Private Paul Johnson and his
wife on the birth of their son Michael Paul.
AOMIN. The Orderly Room is now up to full strength, we
have finally received the mythical ex Guardsman—a hearty
welcome to Lance Corporal Mike Barrett. Another new arrival
is Staff Sergeant Clive Hitchcock, who has come all the way
from 87 Supply Depot, and has taken over as Chief Clerk in
P?:ic--- of Staff Sergeant Colin Dewsbury.
V'e also have another civilian in our complement Mrs Marion
l-ar-.T. who has taken over as dreaded RSMs clerk from Private
Mumford, who has moved on to plague our overstretched Docs
Clerk Corporal Nick Noble.
Finally it's farewell to our Pravo Sergeant, Sergeant Bill
Wreyford on posting and promotion.
SSD. A very peaceful month in the SSD (the OIC has been
away). We assume it's him who came back because he's a
completely different colour and very excited about something
(sun and topless girls on the beach is probably the reason).
However, something came out of it at least, the first long
. w .itcd * Stores Standard' finally appeared and we could
relax after our energetic summer camp and read what was our
own magazine at last. (Any past members of the SSD who
would like to ' keep in touch ' please let the OIC know).
Staff comings and goings have been usually high.
Mrs
Andrews, our own Caren Lynam, and Mrs Jenkins have all left,
leaving only two of the original * Dulmen Dollies/
We welcome Mrs Wilks, Mrs Lowrie and Mrs Hassan to
the happy band. Mrs Jenkins has just brought her first youngster
into the world, and Mrs Ormstone will follow suit very shortly.
H x will be two more bleary-eyed soldiers in the SSD along
>i 1 Lance Corporal Townley.
LOANS AND REPAIR SUB-DEPOT. Firstly we would like to
welcome two new members to the Sub-Depot, one being our
OIC, sailor extra-ordinaire, known to the uninitiated as Major
John Ross after his success (with our own Corps yacht
L
Thunderer') in this year's Transatlantic Yacht Race, we also
welcome his family.
The other new member to the unit is that of our well
organised and meticulously minded Sub Depot Headquarters
C : -:k Sergeant Alan Mellitt.
Congratulations this month to Staff Sergeant John Smith
on receiving the GOC Northern Ireland commendation and
Sergeant Pete Bradbury on being awarded his Long Service
and Good Conduct Medal.
We must welcome Lance Corporal Tony Askew who has
been here some months now and keeps moaning because he
has not yet been mentioned.
Now that the rugby season is here the Receipts and Issues
teams are wondering when Corporal Taff Woolley is having the
operation of the phone being removed from his ear and the ball
'" i under his shirt.
-/;> I'D. Once upon a time there was a BFBS Tower that didn't
work, and opposite this was an office that worked (or so they
said). The tower is now fully functional and the C and A
office has moved and is also functioning. The clerks are in a
spacious new office complex under the watchful eye of WOlC
Pat Moore (when he is not running and training for Cyprus).
Sergeants Halls and Taylor are practising for the Yahtzee
championships, whilst Sergeant Dennis Pitchfork is assisting
Sergeant Allan Hughes to walk whilst using crutches (an old
^a- wound! Cricket).
Lance Corporal Howes has just returned from a unit pro-
.-: Jnist course which he passed whilst Private Mark Percival
is eagerly looking forward to his posting? We also welcome
Corporals
McKinnon and Balsdon, who we managed to acquire
f
rom other Sub-Depots.
In the shed we say goodbye to Sergeant Fred Lawrence who
has gone to Wulfen and was last seen attempting to put am-
munition into TRl WALL containers, we also say goodbye
to Lance Corporal Mick Taylor who has gone to sunny UK.
We welcome to the shed Corporal Joe Dyche and Lance
Corporal Poole, congratulations to Corporal Marshall on gain-
ing his RPCI and Lance Corporal Williams on obtaining his BI
as a Supply Specialist.
89 SUPPLY
DEPOT
TO continue our notes from last month, there have been some
rumours spread by Sergeant Dick Watson on the Bisley Shoot
namely about W02 Dave Timms, well, now that Dave has
been posted we can reveal
Arrived late and no dinner available, so at the bar the lads
asked if there was anything to eat, pasties were ordered but no
plates were available, no sauce shouted Dick, can't eat pasties
without sauce. So Dick obtained a bottle from the dining
room and brought it to the bar, asked Dave Timms to hold
out his hand and promptly filled it with sauce. Dave did not
flinch and the lads dipped their pasties into the sauce and ate
them.
To continue on the firing theme Sergeant Dick Watson has
had the unit doing its annual range classifications, cursing, say-
ing he will win Bisley next year if only he can get rid of the sick
note banning him from running. Anyway congratulations on
coming fifth Dick,
Our OC Major Ray Vincent, paid the unit a visit last week,
to fill in some travel claims and to put in for an ' Op Union'
flight to collect his wife, so perhaps we will see more of him
later during the year.
This seems to be the year for weddings; no not Prince
Charles to Lady Di or Coronation Street's Ken Barlow to
Deirdre Langton, but our very own Corporal Graham Moore
to Miss Susan Hazell. We wish them well and a long future
together.
The Education Inspection proved embarrassing as we only
had one qualified German speaker in the unit, which mostly
contains locally employed Germans. However, a few telephone
calls were made and four members went for a language test which
the following were awarded Group 2 Lang quals, Sergeant Davy
Jones, Sergeant Geordie Holliday and Corporal Billy Gairns.
Welcome to Winefred, wife of W 2 Andy Brathwaite and
their two children Susanna and Jason. Also Yvonne, wife of
