Officers' and Warrant Officers' of the RAOC Apprentices
College for their supreme kindness and support, to whom she is
greatly indebted.
Also to the Reverend Tony Bullock, for a beautifully con-
ducted service and his unswerving assistance to the whole family.
LIEUTENANT COLONEL PETER GOODWIN died as a result
of a heart attack in Battle Hospital, Reading. (See September
GAZETTE.)
His passing came as a great shock to his many
friends at the Training Centre where he had been serving as a
Retired Officer at the School of Ordnance since 1972.
Peter was educated at Sedburgh and was commissioned at
the age of twenty into the East Riding Yeomanry with whom he
served and was wounded in the British Liberation Army in
NW Europe. After the war he served with The Greys until
transferring in 1953 into the RAOC, Most of his subsequent
service was with Vehicle Organisation. He retired in 1971.
Peter was a man of strong principles and extreme con-
scientiousness yet retained complete empathy with his fellows.
He was immensely respected and liked not least for his happy
sense of humour. He is sorely missed by those who knew him.
Our deepest sympathies go to his wife Didi and to his son
and daughter, Philip and Caroline.
CAPTAIN ARCHIE MACLEOD
ROBERT A. BROOKS writes: —
It was through my regular visits to The London Scottish
Regimental Headquarters at No. 59, Buckingham Gate, West-
minster, London SW1, that I sadly learned of the death of
Captain MacLeod on Saturday, 5th September 1981. His
funeral and cremation took place at the East London Crema-
torium and a very large contingent of the London Scottish
Association was present, as was myself. The Lament * The
Flowers of the Forest * was played by Sergeant Piper D, W.
Cowie and " Reveille' sounded by the Regimental bugler,
Sergeant M. Crowley.
Captain MacLeod, born in 1903, joined the London Scottish
in 1924, partook in many illustrious pipes and drums com-
petitions and was exceedingly well liked and respected for his
work for the London Scottish. He obtained his commission in
RAOC during the Second World War.
