Transcription Dues in and dues out of personnel seems to be continuing at
a steady rate. With Corporal Barry Walker going down to 22

good luck. We bid welcome to Corporal Taff Murray and
family and Private Dave Owen and Lance Corporal Smith.

The photograph depicts a traditional Ncpalese farewell.

mother of Corporal Nistain Rai of the 6 Gurkha Rifles.
On the sporting scene the recent Potted Sports Competition
was a great success and was won by our able and talented
'Suppliers '
Who says by devious means!
We also challenged 80 Supply Depot to a games evening in
the Unit Club, where we convincingly thrashed them in all
aspects of the evening! Thanks for coming up lads, we eagerly
a'-vait the return match in our club?
Congratulations to Corporal Rick Jones on the award of the
1 ong Service and Good Conduct Medal. Well done Rick,
STORES PLATOON 1 ARMOURED
WORKSHOP
THE highlight of this month was the visit to the Workshop by
Major General Thome the VQMG. During his visit Major
General Thome toured the Stores Platoon and spoke to many
of the soldiers present. One being Corporal Goulding who tried
to convince the General that a ten tonner was in fact a High
Mobility load carrier by calling it a w Stalwart ' vehicle. This
rprised everybody present as normally ten tonners sink in
i \£ mud let alone water, Corporal Gouldings use of the ad-
jective Stalwart was however resolved and Major General Thome
was relieved to discover that the Platoon does not try and cross
rivers without bridges.
The chipmunks from the Emerald Isle are lining up on the
runway under the leadership of SQMS Tony Collins in anticipa-
tion on their return to Fallingbostel on completion of a most
successful NIRW tour. We only hope we can prevent the Jads
From Ireland diving for cover every time the Gunners fire on
•e nearby range.

HEADQUARTERS
G2/G3 BRANCH.
We have rarely been
mentioned in the hallowed pages of THE
GAZETTE, however things have at last been
put into their true perspective and you
are now honoured to have a report from
The Branch, What branch you say? G
Branch we say!
Having been involved in what is
known as a Hardening and Reducing Trial
(for the uninitiated that is the art of putting the Headquarters
into AFV432s and reducing the number of personnel working
in it), there is no truth in the rumour that the clerks~are all four
foot tall and made of iron. The Chief Clerk, Staff Sergeant
Keith Newman, has worked miracles with the Hardening and
Reducing Final Report, but he doesn't like to talk about it.
We have some belated congratulations to hand out this
month.
Firstly to Corporal Alex Livingstone, whose wife
Eveline gave birth to a daughter Dawn. Secondly to Lance
Corporal Spud Saunders, whose wife Brigitt went one better with
twin boys Sven and Sebastian. We also congratulate Corporal
Brian Parsons on passing his RPCI course' at Bracht and
Private Steve Prime who is our latest B2 clerk.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Head-
quarters RAOC for organising the get together we had when
Brigadier Skinner came to visit us and meet all Corps members
serving in Liibbecke. A very enjoyable evening was had by all.
Sadly we say farewell to Corporal Brian Passmore who has
left for the Higher Education Centre at Mulheim. And we say
welcome to Corporal Gavin Knight who has arrived to take
Brians place.
G\fG4 BRANCH. We are all awaiting the results of two forth-
coming happy events this month. Corporal Marcus Bunn's
wife Angie, is expecting twins and Private Steve Jenkins is in
UK pacing the corridors of the hospital waiting for his wife
to present him with their first child. We wish both wives well.
Corporal Jim Leese is being presented with his Rhodesia
medal by the G O C ; Corporal Leese and his wife Jan are both
saving hard for a trip back to Zimbabwe in December,
Lance Corporal Ian Bottomley and his wife Lynn are back
to work after completing a very successful Free Fall Parachuting
Course at Bad Lippspringe. They are now both members of the
British Parachuting Association.
We have said farewell to Staff Sergeant George Willerton
who has left us for Headquarters 4th Armoured Division. We
wish him well in his new appointment.
HEADQUARTERS
RAOC. To add to all the congratulations
etc, passed over by the Divisional G2/G3 Branch, it is now our
turn to do the honours. We must first of all congratulate the
Adjutant, Captain Simon Hall on his marriage, which took place
earlier this month and we welcome his wife Carole into our
midst and wish them both every happiness and good fortune
for the future.
Congratulations are also in order for W02 Gregory on being
presented with his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal by
Major General Farndale.
Alas, we have to take the good with the bad as we have to
say our farewells to various personalities of the Headquarters
and welcome in the new members of the staff. Mr Bill Rogers.
the Fire Advisor, left us to return to England, having com-
pleted a tour of three years here. His replacement, Mr Sid
Orrey has now settled himself in true style as winter suddenly
appears on the horizon. Private Steve Keen leaves the Head-
quarters to embark on a three year posting at CVD Ashchurch
and we welcome Private Snare to fulfil his busy position. Major
Jim Steele has departed from BAOR on Long Look taking with
him his parachute to show the Aussies just how it should be
done. Our new second in command is Major Ray Wilson of
the RAA who is with us until November, we hope he has a
very enjoyable stay with us. Lance Corporal Tony Broadbent is
to be congratulated on passing a Free Fall Parachute course
and is now a ' regular * at the JSPS Bad Lippspringe.
