ebburn. Lance Corporals Ambler, Robinson and McGuinness.

r
hi;> particular part of the training involves breaking from
ver and letting the tank run over you! The idea is then to
ilace explosives on the soft underbelly. We all did it— must
, e crazy—and not one of us is suffering from ' overstretch.*

The DGOS on his tour of 1 (BR) Corps Units, made a short
visit to the Stores Platoon, where he met all members of the
platoon, and presented Sergeant Frank O'Brien with his Long
Service and Good Conduct Medal. As a memento of his visit,
our junior member Private Gary Blyth presented Major General
Callan, on the platoon's behalf, with a miniature silver plated
Lynx helicopter, mounted on a wooden stand. It was pointed
out to the General that this was the first Lynx to leave the
workshop!
We extend a warm welcome to Sergeant Dave Parnell from
4 ADOC, Corporal Ron Pickford from Kineton, Privates Chris
Norris from Bicester, Dave Spellings from Donnington and
finally Mike Robbins from Bramley.
We hope they enjoy
their stay in Detmold.
We say farewell to Sergeant Willie Clydesdale, posted down
the road to 4 ADOC, also to Corporal Ivan Sangster who has
left to join 612 Tank Transporter Squadron Workshop at Hamm.
We expect him to keep in touch via BFBS Radio Roulette.
Finally to Lance Corporal Keith Rogers, who has left for
civilian life. We wish him and his family the best of luck for
the future.

1 {BR) CORPS VEHICLE
COMPANY
THIS month was highlighted by the visit of the DGOS, Major
General Callan, to the Corps Vehicle Company's forward
vehicle site at Oldentrup, Bielefeld. The whole of the Com-
pany is preparing to move to Oldentrup with effect from 1st
July 1978 and we at Recklinghausen will then become the
Forward Vehicle Depot Recklinghausen.
At the moment half the Company is enjoying a week of
Summer Camp (Exercise Wet Feet) on the Biggesee at Olpe,
Sauerland and the other half will be going next week. We
hope most of the lads managed to grasp the ins and outs of
capsize drill or we may be a few bodies less on their return;
perhaps that wouldn't be so bad.
Congratulations to Privates Steve Skidmore and Steve
Shuck on their recent promotion to Lance Corporal.
We welcome into the Unit Private and Mrs Alex Gurmin
from Ludgershall.
STORES PLATOON 71 AIRCRAFT
WORKSHOP
DURING April and May the Stores Platoon participated in the
Workshop annual summer camp, held again near Schweinfurt in
the American Zone. A wide range of military, adventurous and
sporting activities were covered, which in retrospect, were en-
joyed by alL
On the 10th June the Section held its annual barbecue,
in a nice rural setting at Hornoldendorf, thanks to a kindly
German farmer. Tentage was erected as a precaution against
bad weather, which in the event held off. It was a most enjoy-
able day, the older members sat back and relaxed in leisurely
fashion, while our more 'active' junior members and the
children played a cross between murder ball and what the
Romans did to the Christians long ago.
On the sporting side, Sergeants Frank O'Brien, Mike Mays
and Corporals Dave Kelly and Ray Bailie, participated in the
RAOC BAOR Spring Golf Meeting at Bruggen. Private Mike
Robbins has, since his recent arrival, been in great demand as
a member of the RAOC BAOR Cricket Team, Congratulations
to him on his selection. Lance Corporal Alex Crawford we
understand has applied for the anticipated vacancy of Scotland's
managership!
Our congratulations go to Sergeants Mike Mayes and Frank
O Brien on their deserved award of the Long Service and Good
J-onduct Medal- Also to Corporal Tvan Sangster on passing

RAOC STORES SECTION 1 CORPS TROOPS
WORKSHOP
A NEW Unit title created plenty of paperwork and activity in
the Workshop. We missed the last edition so we could provide
a ' newsey * letter this time.
We have said * Bon Voyage"" to our contribution to the
NIRW until July. We wish them a safe tour and return.
April saw the departure of Graham Wright to civvy
street. He has a fat cheque and a large smile, I wonder why?
We wish Graham and family all the best for the future.
Corporal John Sim is our new MT NCO and three days on the
hand-over soon wiped that smile from his face. Welcome (or
sympathies as Jacko said) to John and family.
Congratulations to Brum Evans, Mick Wilson, Alan Mayoh
and Dave Stonham on HGV2 passes and Jock Connell on a
Land Rover pass.
Next in line are Paul Pratt—Jacko and Steve Butcher,
Terry Leefarr must have lost his mind—he's taking them out.
Oh! by the way, we've recaptured Jeff Lord and all reward
notices may be destroyed. He's even beaten Mick Ollrenshaws
time off record.
Bill Ryan's bet with a certain WO about Spurs changing
places with West Ham later this year looks good. Thafs if he
dares claim it.
Taff Blyth failed to lead the Unit Rugby XV to a 2nd
Army Title, losing the semi-final to the eventual winners.
Both Steve Butcher and Mick Leigh (has he spoken yet?) were
stalwarts of the team.
The Workshop won the Craftsmans Soccer Cup beating
14/20 Hussars four to one. We had Mick Wilson, Alan Mayoh,
Mick Render and Mick Hinson in the side. Alan Mayoh and
Mick Wilson are off to play for the Corps. Let's have a win
lads!
Bob Green, who is counting the days to do, will be
remembered for his Cup Final Cocktail, which floored ninety
per cent of the people at the victory party,
Andy David
exhausted by another athletic session was not affected by the
concoction.
